On June 4, 2021, Karlee would make the drive from her apartment in downtown Fort Wayne to Nick’s house in Modoc. These two came from opposites in terms of living quarters. Karlee lived in downtown Fort Wayne, right off Washington Blvd where there was nonstop traffic. When she arrived at Nick’s little country home, where there are typically only a few cars that pass by every day, she was quite shocked. The first words out of Karlee’s mouth were “So is this where I get murdered?” At that moment Nick knew that not only was this girl extremely sweet and very attractive, but she also matched his sense of humor. Little did Karlee know that six months later, she would leave her downtown apartment to move in with Nick in Modoc.
It only took the two a few times of hanging out before they realized there was something there. It was like the two had known each other for a lifetime, even though they had only known each other for a few weeks. Approximately five weeks into this newly formed relationship, Karlee told Nick that she loved him. This caught Nick extremely off guard, so his reply was “Thank you." Deep down he knew he was experiencing the same feelings.
2021 was full of back and forth. Karlee and Nick would spend every other weekend either in Modoc or Fort Wayne. With Karlee’s flexible nanny schedule, it allowed the two to spend a lot of time with each other from the beginning which accelerated the progression of their relationship. After just a couple months, the two were madly in love. It was a love that neither had experienced before.
2022 would bring many new changes too. Karlee moved to Modoc so that the two could be together all the time. It didn’t take long into the new year before Nick started planning the proposal. He wanted to put a ring on Karlee’s finger and be with her for the rest of his life. And that’s exactly what he did! On June 4, 2022, one year to the date after their first meeting, Nick took Karlee for a mystery anniversary dinner which ended in a proposal along the canal in Indianapolis. The two enjoyed dinner at The Eagle’s Nest in downtown Indy, which is a rotating experiencing with views of the city. Karlee was so nervous for this surprise dinner she asked, “Are we moving? Or am I just anxious?” to which Nick replied, “We are moving babe, you aren’t going crazy.” After dinner, the two walked down to the canal where the proposal would happen. Karlee’s feet got destroyed walking so far in heels, but she said the walk was “Totally worth it!”
Fast forward to 2023. Karlee is pursuing her dream of becoming a nurse and Nick has started a new position to help better provide for the two. The love between Nick and Karlee grows every single day, and they are both constantly reminded by each other why they fell in love in the first place. This was a love that came out of nowhere. When they were least expecting it. But they are both firm believers that everything happens for a reason. So, the next time someone tells you that you are wasting your time on a dating app, remind them of this great love story of Karlee Warren and Nick Dunham.
