Once upon a time, in the digital age of swipes and right swipes, Karli’s and Matthew’s love story began on a chilly December day in 2018. It all started on a little app called Bumble, unique for its requirement for the woman to make the first move. Karli, ever the woman of few words, had a dating profile that simply read, Pizza, MSU Sports, and Camping. Little did she know, those three words would set the stage for a story that would warm our hearts.


On December 7th, 2018, destiny brought them together. Their first meeting was set at Timothy O Tooles in Libertyville, IL, a cozy spot for post-work drinks. Matthew, not one to shy away from a challenge, couldnt help but be intrigued. As the date began, Matthew asked her to tell him more about herself. While Karli might dispute the memory, Matthew distinctly recalls her saying, Well, I love Pizza, MSU Sports, and Camping. With those words, it was clear to Matthew that he would be the one to keep the conversation alive that evening.


The date wasnt exactly what either had expected, but Matthew was hungry, and a decision had to be made. He asked Karli if she wanted to order dinner, to which she replied with a polite No. Matthew, slightly stunned, having never been turned down by a woman, offered appetizers instead, to which Karli agreed. With limited knowledge about Karlis food preferences, Matthew took a chance and ordered the only pizza item on the menu – a goat cheese pizza. For those who know Karli well, youll understand that goat cheese pizza was quite a departure from her usual choices. Matthew, focused on keeping the conversation flowing, failed to notice that Karli was merely pretending to eat the pizza, skillfully cutting and moving it around on her plate.


While the first date may not have set off fireworks in the conventional sense, Matthew saw something more in Karli and mustered up the courage to ask her out for a second date just a few days later. This time, he planned a sophisticated evening of wine and a painting class, hoping to impress her with his artistic side. But Karli had other plans and quickly suggested an alternative option: Dave & Busters!


Matthews heart raced with excitement as he realized that Karli had just earned herself a special place in his heart. After all, he has a deep love for video games, and a date at an arcade was right up his alley. That night, sparks flew, and they both knew they were onto something extraordinary.
