Karly and Nathan met at the Sliver Buckle July 2021 when they went for dinner with friends. They lost themselves in conversion about hiking. adding each other to all Trails. The night ended and they went their separate ways after the night was done. Finding each other a few months later on social media. The conversation never slowed down. With the running joke of the best ice cream shop in town Nathan asked Karly on a date to Swirls (his Favorite). What was to be just another date turned into a wanting to build a life together.

My first idea when it came to proposing was an escape room. We had both done a couple of escape rooms and treasure chests before and it became apparent that we both loved solving puzzles together. However, when the expected arrival of the engagement ring landed up with our planned trip to Banff it left me torn. After all Banff is one of Karly's favorite places. I was torn between the two ideas until I found out that the ring was not going to be ready in time.

Our trip to Banff was schedule on the Saturday; however, at that point my only option was to pick up the ring from one of their Calgary branches on Saturday afternoon. We were already scheduled to stay in Calgary Friday and Saturday night so changing our plans to Calgary was a simple task. The big question was how do I pick up the ring without Karly finding out? Karly's maid of honor and best friend, Kayt, was already scheduled to hang out with us that weekend. I told Kayt my issue and she convinced Karly to come with her to get their nails done so that I could pick up the ring.

The ring was set and the escape room was booked in Calgary. I made a point to go to the escape room before hand to let them know about my plan. They were more than willing to help and be a part of our big day. The last puzzle happened to be a safe so I got the idea to put a note in there that read "Will you marry me". The staff were nice enough to show me the room before hand so that I could make sure we got through all the clues before our hour was up. We went through the escape room as planned with Kayt smuggling in her phone to take pictures of the big moment. We got to the last clue and Kayt and I convinced Karly to open the safe. Once she had the door open I was down on one knee and the rest was history!
