Our Story

We met freshman year welcome week, the first night of college while on a bus heading down from north campus looking for any welcoming house party that served cold beer. With our dorm roommates, Rachael and Seth who are both in our bridal party, we conquered the first night of college parties together. For the rest of that year, we were routine study buddies in the Blue Apple, the diner in Bursley Hall.

After a nudge from Nick’s mom, Mary, Nick texted Karly in the summer of 2015 asking her on a date, to which Karly responded “why not!”. After getting back on campus and going to Greek Life date parties and tailgating together, our relationship officially started that December. After graduating together from the University of Michigan in 2018 (GO BLUE), Nick moved back home to Harrison Township and Karly stayed in Ann Arbor for two years. In the summer of 2020, we chose a central location for our families and our jobs, landing us in Royal Oak MI where we still live today.

After spending a lot of time tasting different craft beers, traveling, and enjoying outdoor activities together, Nick went ring shopping. In August of 2022, while on the way to Karly’s birthday dinner with her parents, Nick requested an “urgent” pit stop at Karly’s family’s orchard to put up a deer hunting trail camera. Annoyed, Karly complied. After begging Karly to get out of the truck to help with the camera set up, Nick proposed half way down an apple lane where Karly’s Dad, Jeff, had already strategically set up trail cameras to capture the moment and Nick’s cousin, Katie, was hiding to take professional photos of the special moment. Since our engagement, we have been working together with our families to plan our special day and can’t wait to celebrate our marriage and spend the evening dancing the night away with you!
