Thanks to the Red Sox getting blown-out by a woeful Marlins team the post game cocktails at the Bar in Coral Gables was earlier than expected. Around midnight, Dan Lynch had just left and Bill was finishing his last beer, then some woman wanted his seat at the bar. That woman was Karol, and she and her friend Diane were out to celebrate her birthday. Shortly, thereafter the conversation moved from birthdays with the group to only Bill and Karol conversing about their mutual affinity for old fashioneds and where best to find them. The evening then turned then into a dance party, where Diane even got Bill to do the Kid 'n Play dance. At the end of the night Bill asked for Karol's number and promised to call (which he did) and the rest, as they say, is history.

How We Met

Bill and Karol planned their annual January vacation getaway to Boston. Unbeknownst to Karol there was a secret plan to this trip. However, a two hour flight delay almost ruined the surprise. Once in Boston, Bill and Karol were ready to hit the town, but Karol got hangry and had to have lunch first. Bill ate his lunch at lighting speed and started to act a little funny. Karol ignored is weird behavior and ate her lunch savoring it. After lunch, Bill wanted to show Karol the Commonwealth Mall, a Parisian style park in the middle of the Back Bay. Where Bill stopped in mid-park, as if he was going to explain a long story, but instead got on one knee and asked Karol if she would marry him. Karol said yes and immediately started crying. Then a lady walking her bike crept by and whispered, "It's forever.....". But Bill and Karol were too excited and celebrated with champagne and dessert at Clink at the Liberty Hotel.
