Our Wedding

<p>We met in school because we had nearly every single class together during our freshmen year, as Evan is a math major and I (Karstin) am a physics major. Over the first year, we became good friends but it wasn't until our sophomore year that we started to really get to know each other. We sat together and talked while going through difficult times at least once a week. In October of 2023, Evan asked me out and I ended up saying no because I didn't want to date that semester. But secretly I wanted him to ask again in the future :). Over the rest of that semester, we continued talking and praying about how God was leading us together and what His will was for our relationship. The following semester, Spring 2024, we were more serious and considered dating. However, before we continued on with dating, we decided to fast from each other for two weeks to take the time and pray to God for guidance and leadership. We sincerely wanted Him to be the center of our relationship. After this fast, we came back together over dinner and discussed what we learned from God and said God was bringing us together for His glory. He asked my father permission to date me, and then our first date was (ironically) Febuary 14th, 2024. </p>

How We Started Dating

<p>I (Evan) wanted to propose sometime in January. Before January hit, I was attempting to plan a weekend where Karstin and I could go to San Diego so I could propose on the beach. However, one weekend after another filled up with other activities before even making it to January. Thus, a new plan formed. Karstin had already been asking me numerous questions trying to get information out of me about when it was going to happen. She discovered that I wanted to propose in San Diego and from my comments about going to the beach, she knew what was going on. This was actually great news for me. I convinced her that the ring was in San Diego but, I did not know for sure if she believed me. The San Diego trip was lining up to happen the weekend of 25th, so I proposed on the 20th. On that day, we walked through the Huntington Gardens and spent most of the afternoon there. For dinner, we made our favorite dish, spicy peanut thai noodles. Since it was a Monday night, Karstin had to go to rehearsal for chapel from 8pm to 10pm. This is when my friends and I got to work. My friends had already grabbed flowers and flower petals from a local floral shop. About an hour before Karstin finished rehearsal, my friends and I brought all the stuff to the spot for the proposal. Once she got out of rehearsal, Karstin and I walked through all the places on campus that were important to our relationship. Finally, we start walking towards the place where I first asked her out. She notices that there are decorations everywhere and stops me from going further because she did not want to interrupt what was going on. I convinced her to keep going down the stairs and within a few steps, she realized it was for her. We slowly walked through the candles, flower petals, and lights, until we arrived at the end. I gave a short speech, got on me knee, and while barely finishing the question, she says yes!</p>
