Our story spans over a decade - beginning in '06 when we first met in the Urban Trail Blazers (UTB) summer program at the Crissy Field Center in San Francisco. The next four years following that, we developed a strong friendship while being participants in the Inspiring Young Emerging Leaders (I-YEL) program. It wasn't until the summer of 2010 when our friendship really began to grow and strengthen as we spent more and more time together! Even as Kary moved to Eugene, Oregon for college, we continued to communicate daily - Josh even visited for a weekend to hang out and watch an Oregon Ducks football game (Go Ducks)! It soon became clear that our feelings for each other had grown much beyond friendship and over winter break we made the wild decision to try jumping into a long-distance relationship as teenagers! Over the past 13+ years, we've alternated from being long-distance to living in the same town, back to long-distance, moving in together in Seattle WA, and moving back to San Francisco - what a ride it has been! While we're definitely not the same whippersnappers we once were when we first met, what has maintained constant throughout the years is our love for each other, love for the outdoors, love for our dogs, and love for the life we have cultivated together. We are both stoked to not only take a step forward in our commitment to one another, but to also celebrate and honor 13+ years of growth, adventure, silliness, and joy with you all! 😊
