Q + A

Any restaurant suggestions for dinner on Thursday (or Wed or Sun)?

If you are looking for some great places to eat in the area we have a few recommendations. Darkey Kelley's is a wonderful pub with live music and great food. It can get crowded so we suggest getting there early. It is within a 15 minute walk from Buswells. Another good choice within a 5 minute walk is The Davy Byrnes which has a bistro/gastropub vibe. The Ivy Dublin is also about a 5 minute walk from Buswells and is a little more of an upscale brasserie.

What about a quick lunch suggestion?

This one is easy, Grogan's Pub has the best toastie (which is a grilled cheese) in all of Dublin. It is literally the only thing on the menu. Duke's pub is a three minute walk from the hotel and has a wonderful full lunch menu.

What's the dealio for the Guinness Storehouse on Friday?

We have a timed tour of the Guinness Storehouse on Friday at 1 PM. We have arranged for transportation to take us to and from the Storehouse. Please meet at Buswells Hotel at 12:30 sharp. If you are meeting us at Guinness PLEASE LET US KNOW so that we are not waiting for you - and then meet us at the group entrance as our coordinator has the entrance vouchers (and drink tickets!!). We will be dropped back at Buswells later that afternoon. Please note that there really isn't any food at the Guinness Storehouse so either eat a big ol' breakfast or grab a quick something before meeting at the hotel to board the bus.

Tell us about Friday night!

We are hosting a welcome party at Lennan's Yard (21A Dawson Street) at 5:30 PM. The restaurant is within a five minute walk of Buswells Hotel and convenient to anywhere else you might be staying. Depending on our collective stamina, there might be a nearby pub calling our names!

Viking Duck Boat?

We were able to secure seats for everyone who wanted to go on the Viking Duck Boat trip! The departure point is right on St. Stephen's Green (practically across the street from Lennan's) - a five minute walk from Buswells. The boats leave at 10 AM on the dot, so please plan on arriving by 9:45. For those who want to explore on their own, Dublin has tons to offer including Trinity College, the Book of Kells (preorder tickets online, it is MUCH easier), wander through Grafton Street, or check out the top-notch Irish Migration Museum.

Ceremony Deets!

The ceremony, cocktail hour (!!!), and dinner will take place at No. 25 Fitzwilliam Place in Dublin. The ceremony is set to begin at 3 PM. 25 Fitzwilliam Place is a 15-20 minute walk from Buswells or a 10 minute cab ride. There are often cabs in front of Buswells. Additionally, you can use Uber - which actually summons a taxi (not some guy in his mom's Ford Explorer). Following dinner, in lieu of a "traditional" reception, we are headed to a nearby pub - Doheny & Nesbitt - to enjoy some music and pints! The pub is a 10-minute walk from the wedding venue. We have a reserved room on the lower level of the pub (The Cellar Bar). Please make your way down there upon arrival.

What should we wear?

Wear whatever you are comfortable wearing. Honestly. Please note, that although taxis are plentiful, it may be quicker/easier getting from the hotel to the venue and the pub on foot. You *might* want to plan your footwear accordingly (or not, totally your call).

Is there anything planned for Sunday?

We imagine everyone will be pretty damn tired! For those staying at Buswells Hotel, a full Irish breakfast is included in the room rate. What better hangover remedy is there than streaky bacon and eggs?

Are you registered anywhere?

Oh god no. The last thing we want as we merge households and think about downsizing is more stuff. We want nothing other than for you to come to the wedding.

Are you sure?

1000000%

If we plan on travelling an extra day or two, any suggestions?

If you are staying a couple of extra days, we STRONGLY suggest that you take a trip up to Belfast for a night or two. There are multiple trains per day.
