To sum it up: french fries. Jack and I had a mutual friend who was bartending one night. Jack stopped in to eat dinner after work and I swung by just to visit. When I sat down, I looked next to me to see a handsome, tall, and macho bowl of french fries smothered in cheese. I was watching my food intake but I couldn’t resist. I asked this stranger for three of his fries, no more and no less. He very happily shared his fries while listening to me talk about Lord of the Rings and my then job offer as federal police. He was smitten, and my taste buds were happy. Then, as my family likes to say, he came over for Thanksgiving and never left. We’ve known each other for five calendar years, dated for four, lived in two different states, built a house, and have forever to go.
