How we met
Friends were gathered in a small bar in Tomball, TX during the summer of 2016. A friendly guy walked over to a shy girl and struck up conversation. Trey was outgoing. Kassady was hesitant. After chatting for a while he stepped away and asked her to watch his beer… Kassady immediately started looking for an escape route but her friend insisted they stay and keep talking to him. When Trey came back the two of them moved from inside the crowded bar to sit on the patio out back. Before they knew it, it was 2AM and after some coaxing from her friend Kassady exchanged numbers with Trey. She didn’t have high hopes- he seemed handsome and fun but as a young single mom she was looking for more. She needed someone to love not just her but her 2 year old daughter Addison also. Fast forward a few months and Trey surprised her, he and Addison were two peas in a pod from the moment they met.
Over the next several years Trey and Kassady’s relationship had periods of hardship and growth. They learned her strengths were his weaknesses and vice versa. They learned they were two halves of a whole. In 2024 all their family and friends would give a huge sigh of relief and prepare to celebrate as they knew something big was coming… God’s timing was perfect!
THE PROPOSAL
12.21.24: Kassady and the people she loves most headed to her beloved family ranch to celebrate her 31st birthday. Everyone seemed unusually high strung but after a few twisted teas at her happy place surrounded by her favorite people she chalked it up to girls being girls and moms being moms!
At sunset everyone went out for a drive stopping at the pecan grove, a favorite spot. Kassady’s mom walked over with tears in her eyes, her friends smiled to each other while Addison giggled and whispered in the backseat…. Kassady was clueless. One of her friends finally said “Look, is someone out there?!” Mind you, we’re on 1,000 acres of nothing; no one should be here.
Being the true crime fanatic that she is she starts scanning the area, pair that that with her habit of never wearing glasses even though she’s blind and you’ve got a very confused almost fiancé. At this point, she’s all but shoved out of the ranger and told to just start walking. The further she walks, the more clear things become. Trey and their family dog, Astro kneeling in the grass came into focus and it all clicked. It was a perfect evening, at a perfect place and was filled with surprise, love, laughter and overwhelming joy.
