Our Story

Our Story!

A tale as old as time… or a tale of modern-day romance. Jace and I met online. In the Fall of 2022, we matched on Hinge (we believed in the marketing- designed to be deleted). We started to chat on the app and quickly realized that this was a little different than your average match. Our chats over Hinge changed to hour-long Facetime calls. Jace finally asked me out on a date, but we had to postpone it a little because I caught pneumonia and bronchitis cheering on the greatest team of all time, Go Hogs (University of Arkansas).

Unsurprisingly Jace and I had a competitive first date; we went bowling. We laughed and bantered while both trying to beat each other in some intense games of bowling. This is where I would like to pause and say that I won the first game (Kat), and we don’t have to talk about the other games. During this date we both realized that conversation was easy and didn’t have an awkward moment. It was a really good first date, unlike anything we have experienced before. Over the next few weeks, we continued to have hour long Facetime calls and unbelievably good dates. We went to the Dallas Arboretum for the 12 Days of Christmas display. As we were walking and talking, having some really deep conversations, we realized that we were both on the same page about our future and committed fully to each other.

We continued to date and integrate our lives together. We met each other’s families and celebrated birthdays. We were both developing deep feelings regardless of the physical distance and planned creative dates over Facetime for the days we couldn’t see one another in person. We had game nights with friends, and we watched movies together, and so much more. We prioritized time together regardless of if it was in person or over Facetime, and we made space for each other in our lives. We tackled hard things together and relied on our communication skills, and we showed up for each other constantly. We fell in love and knew we wanted to be together forever. I fell in love with his heart for people, his gentleness, and overall warmness. Jace is the kindest, and most selfless man I have ever known. We respect each other and are constantly pushing each other to be the best version of ourselves.

The night before our one-year anniversary, Jace went over to my parents’ house and braved a house full of women (my mom’s childhood friends were over) to ask my parents for permission. They had a long conversation about marriage and our future. At the end of it, my dad gave his permission for Jace to ask me to marry him. After that conversation, Jace went over to my brother Collin and sister-in-law Kallie’s house to ask him for his blessing. Jace knew that I valued family and wanted everyone’s support. Collin also gave his permission.

And this began the secrets and planning behind my back. Jace started to plan the proposal and coordinate the perfect surprise. Jace planned a proposal that was perfectly us, centered around our relationship and values. After he proposed we got to celebrate with our families having fun and playing yard games!

We are so excited to get married and start our life together. We can’t wait to see and celebrate with all of y’all on November 9th, 2024!!

With Love,

Kat and Jace
