ROOSEVELT ISLAND

The island is small and can be walked from end to end and is 2 miles long (3.2 km) With a maximum width of 800 feet (240m). The island is part of the borough of

Manhattan.


Each of the sites below can be viewed with notes on the history. Four Freedoms Park is four acres of roaming area and a terrific view of Manhattan…the United Nations, The Chrysler Building.

The Roosevelt Island Tram to Manhattan is located one block from The Graduate Hotel. The ride is four minutes over the East River, with views up and down both islands.

It arrives at 59th Street and 2nd Avenue in Manhattan.


Uber: Available on a continuous basis with 2-5 minute wait.


Subway: The F train station is located one block from the tram. The first stop in Manhattan is 63rd & Lex, after which the train continues downtown via 6th Avenue.
