Jason & Kataira first crossed paths back in 2010 during a Salem High School bible study. Unbeknownst to them, this connection would blossom into something so much more beautiful over a decade later. Life took them separate ways, but they always kept in touch over the years. After Kataira received her masters in 2017 , she followed a teaching opportunity to Jacksonville, FL but would often still visit family & friends in Virginia Beach. What started as a routine visit home, ended much differently than the rest. A spark of romantic interest during lunch with a mutual friend would be the start of something incredible. Keeping connected more than usual, the very next visit home would begin their long distance relationship. A little over a year later, they both felt it was time to start a new chapter & close the distance between them. Then began lots of planning, patience, & even more prayers. Finally, after two long years of a long distance relationship - they moved in together in a place that truly felt like home for them & their love - Virginia. As they created a home together in December 2023 Jason learned that it’s true what they say - when you know, you know. They would be happily engaged shortly after in February 2024. Their relationship has been nothing short of God’s love. The distance wasn’t always easy. Their love has endured the truest of tests. Infinite amounts of grace & understanding. Countless FaceTimes, a lot of hard work, sacrifice, compromise, long car rides, & endless planning. But their love persevered & grew beyond measure throughout the entire process. It continues to grow & flourish with each passing day as they learn to love & care for one another in all their new life’s journeys. This is only the beginning of a lifetime full of adventures together. Now, all we could ever want is for you to walk alongside us in our story of finally making this our happily ever after!

Known by the groom as Chris. The groom has known him since he was 6 years old. A true lifelong friend. Also, he’ll have the best embarrassing childhood stories about the groom. 

John Melby

A friend of the groom since college. He studied both history and education, same as the groom. After crossing paths enough, he introduced the groom to some of the closest friends he’d have in college. He’s an alright hooper. 

Justin Watts

Another friend of the groom since college. He always knows the best places to eat, and can provide travel recommendations like very few can. Both he and the grooms golf game could use some work though.

A coworker turned friend who helped the groom survive his first few years of teaching. He and the groom enjoy competing in all kinds of sports.

Busch Gardens

The Virginia Living Museum in Newport News showcases Virginias diverse natural wonders. Founded in 1966 as the Junior Nature Museum and Planetarium, it became the Virginia Living Museum in 1987, combining a wildlife park, science museum, aquarium, botanical preserve, and planetarium. The museum features over 245 animal species and exhibits representing Virginia’s various regions, from mountains to oceans. Its hands-on educational approach has engaged over two million students since 1987. The museum offers special programs like weekend safaris to explore Virginia’s natural habitats. With over 500 volunteers, it enjoys strong community support. In 2012, the museum expanded its mission to include human health, focusing on the connections between people, animals, and the environment.

Virginia Living Museum

Norfolk Botanical Garden includes 175-acres, with more than 60 themed gardens that can be viewed by tram, boat or by foot. Themed gardens include the Bristow Butterfly Garden, the Sarah Lee Baker Perennial Garden, the Virginia Native Plant Garden and the Margaret Moore Hall Bicentennial Rose Garden. Each of these gardens allow guests to see a variety of plants – from the cultivated to the wild.
