During the Fall of 2017, Kate met some friends at the SAE fraternity house. That night, she met Hugo. They kept running into each other and hanging out more until around Thanksgiving, Kate realized she was catching some feelings. Kate went home to tell her parents she met a boy, and quickly realized her Dad and her brother, Michael, actually knew Hugo from a skeet tournament in Ohio. Over the course of Christmas break and the Spring semester, Kate and Hugo started hanging out more and more. In February 2018, Hugo wanted to get a puppy. Kate went with him to pick up his new dog, Macy. Kate quickly fell in love with her as she was starting to fall for Hugo. Finally, on April 14, 2018, Hugo asked Kate to be his girlfriend. Fast forward almost 6 years, on February 24, 2024, Hugo told Kate they were going to a work dinner at Paulette’s in Harbor Town. Kate got ready, threw on some jeans and a sweater, and was ready to go. Hugo said “you’re wearing that? I think this is a really fancy place. You should wear your black dress.” Kate was flustered, but quickly got changed. To Kate’s surprise, they were 30 minutes early to dinner. Hugo is never early. Ever. Hugo suggested they go down and look at the river. Kate thought “am I about to be proposed to?”, but didn’t see any kind of set up or photographers. After a long and cold walk, Kate saw a photographer she knew next to a white blanket with some things on it. As they got closer, she started to realize that yes, she was about to be proposed to. With tears in her eyes, they walked up to the blanket, Hugo got down on one knee, and asked Kate to be his wife. She, of course, said YES! Hugo and Kate can’t wait to celebrate their marriage with all of their friends and family!
