Our Story

Despite growing up one block apart and attending the same middle school, Kate and Will did not become friends until 2013 when they both landed a summer internship in Senator Burr’s office in Washington DC. Kate admired Will’s sense of humor and his uncanny ability to improvise while conducting constituent tours of the U.S. Capitol Building. Will liked the ease with which Kate made conversation and her wit. After college, both not only moved back to DC, but also, once again, landed jobs with the same company, Deloitte. During this time, they went on several double dates – playing matchmaker and setting the other up with friends (thankfully unsuccessfully!).

In 2019, after a few years with little contact, Kate and Will reconnected at Thanksgiving at Diamondback Grill in Winston-Salem. Mutually charmed with one another, they started communicating which was conveniently spurred on with the onset of the pandemic. After several months of daily phone calls, Kate traveled from Denver to Nashville to visit Will who was stationed at Fort Campbell.

Needless to say, that first visit was tons of fun and turned into three years of long-distance travel between Nashville and Denver punctuated by adventures in countless other places. Will proposed to Kate on a snowy hike in Beaver Creek, Colorado last April.
