Our Story

Hi! Kate here!

First off, if you've arrived at our website, we are SO glad you're here! We cannot wait to celebrate with all the incredible friends and family who have had such a meaningful impact on our lives—both individually and together. Your presence and effort to come together for us means the world, and we are endlessly grateful as we step into this exciting new chapter of life. Thank you, and we love you!

Now, onto the story of how we met!

After graduating from Texas Christian University in 2021 with a degree in marketing and accounting, I packed up and moved to the west coast. Post-graduation, I spent time exploring different cities and career opportunities. I started out in Carlsbad, working in corporate marketing for eight months before deciding to move to Newport Beach. There, I shifted my focus toward a more creative path—social media strategy.

But as I navigated that role, I realized I had a growing desire to pivot into an entirely different career. I interviewed for five different jobs in various sectors—tech, investment banking, sales (all wildly different), and even briefly flirted with law school, taking the LSAT. After much prayer and consideration, I made the decision to pursue a career in commercial real estate.

On my first day at the new firm, I met Wes—albeit ever so briefly. He was one of the founding brokers, a seasoned veteran of 10 years, with an impressive team working under him. At this firm, new agents were required to undergo extensive training and select a mentor to guide us as we gained experience. I decided to interview the potential mentors (senior agents) to make the decision of who would be the best fit for me.

I scheduled quick introductory meetings with the senior agents, including Wesley—though getting time on his calendar was no small feat (he stood me up a couple of times, but I’ll forgive him now). During the supposed interview, instead of discussing my career goals and his professional experience, we found ourselves engrossed in conversation about our shared love for food—his passion for cooking and mine for baking—our favorite travel memories, and creative hobbies. The conversation flowed effortlessly. We even discovered we went to the same pilates studio—Wes, apparently, a seasoned veteran there too (lol).

Because of the connection, I ended up choosing a different mentor. Wes and I kept it professional, but our paths continued to cross in the office. Over time, I developed a small crush.

Fast forward a few months, after some lighthearted office banter and flirty interactions, I will admit, Imade the first move at an outside event where Wes was DJing. It must have worked, because the following Monday morning, Wes sent me an email asking for my number—via the office email, no less. Our first date was a pilates class and brunch.

We started spending time together, and shortly after began dating.

Since then, Wesley and I have left the firm where we met to start our own venture—Connolly Investments. Along the way, we’ve traveled to countless cities and countries, explored eclectic foods, shared adventures, and—most importantly—grown closer as partners and friends. Wes is truly my best friend.

We share a deep love for life, creativity, music, food, and travel, but more than anything, we share a love for our family and friends—and for each other. Now, we have our little kitty, Rue, to share it all with.

We feel so blessed to have met when we did—two people from opposite sides of the country, brought together at work of all places. It truly feels like a match made in heaven… maybe even love at first sight.

And here we are, getting married, continuing this journey together. We thank God every single day for the life we’re building, and we cannot wait for what’s to come!
