Wayah Bald is located in the mountains of Franklin, NC. If you plan to fly, Asheville, NC (AVL) is 1.5 hours away and Atlanta, GA (ATL) is 2 hours away by car. If you need a ride from either airport, let us know! We'll help get you in touch with a carpool.
Where should I stay?
Franklin is a very small town with a few hotels which we have listed on our travel page. If you are up for an adventure, we encourage you to take a look at rental vacation homes in the area or contact us for advice.
How do I get to Wayah?
The ceremony will take place at the Jones cabin which is located about an hour up the mountain from Franklin. While it is just off the Bartram and Appalachian Trails, we don't expect you to hike in! We will coordinate rides from Franklin to the cabin once we receive your RSVPs.
What do I wear?
Think garden party meets misty forest! The wedding ceremony and reception are semi-formal, but we know the mountains can be unpredictable. We only ask that you don't wear jeans or flannel. The ground can be uneven in areas so you may choose to bring a more comfortable pair of shoes for the ceremony (but maybe leave your crocs at home!)
What can I expect at the Cabin?
Temperatures on Wayah tend to be 10 degrees cooler than Franklin. Bring or wear layers for the mountain wedding venue.
There is no running water at the cabin, which means, no toilet. However, there are toilets at the Tower which are accessible before heading to the cabin for the ceremony. There is also an outhouse and a nice port-a-john at the cabin if you're feeling adventurous!
Will there be an Open Bar?
Yes! We'll have a range of wine, beer, and two signature cocktails.
Are kids invited?
Even the best parents need a break sometimes! Take your break at our ceremony and reception, which has been planned with an adults-only crowd in mind.
