Q + A

General

What Are Your Colors?

We're in the shades of burgundy and cream! You can wear whatever colors you feel sassy in.

Why the Zoo?

Since we love to walk, we often do so in the Cleveland Metroparks, and at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Our love of creatures and being outside in the summer makes the Zoo the perfect beautiful place to have the reception. We hope you have as much fun as we do!

What is "garden party" attire?

June but in an indoor, air conditioned location. At this point, just be classy, yet comfortable. Overall think lighter colors and fabrics, play with patterns, florals, etc. - clothing that is classy but won't stifle you in the summer outdoors. You don't have to be super extra fancy (have you met us?!). >>>>> GUYS: khakis, light colors, nothing super formal, but no shorts or tshirts; jackets NOT required!!! Ties optional - it's June. Think rolled up or short sleeve dress shirts or polo shirts, etc. If you want to go formal and dark colors we're fine with that - you pick. >>>>> LADIES: Have fun with light fabrics and colors, florals, etc. If you want to go formal and dark colors we're fine with that - you pick. >>>>> Opt for outfits and accessories that are comfortable and practical, but keep your look classy. NO shorts, jeans, sneakers, or t-shirts.

Religious Stuff

What is "church appropriate" attire?

For the Church, Avoid Casual Wear: it's a good rule of thumb to avoid overly casual items like shorts, tank tops, sneakers, jeans, graphic t-shirts, and flip-flops; please also try to stay away from anything super revealing or very immodest. Not sure? Just ask Kate! Again this is for the Church portion only.

What can I expect of a Catholic Mass ceremony?

The ceremony will be about an hour long and will include a formal Catholic church Mass.

- An entrance processional will be followed by a greeting, readings, psalm, homily, vows, celebration of the Eucharist (Holy Communion), nuptial blessing, and recession.

- For non-Catholics (who are ENCOURAGED and MOST WELCOME to attend the ceremony): "It is most appropriate for those not receiving communion to remain in their places in prayer. It is recommended that they offer a [personal] Spiritual Communion prayer."

Fr. Joe

Fr. Joe is the Parochial Vicar of St. Bernadette Parish in Westlake, OH, and he'll be presiding over the Wedding Ceremony.

He's been a strong supporter of this marriage process, and a champion of patience, faith and trust in the Lord. His prayers and guidance have been invaluable.

The young priest has a fun take on life, a refreshing view of religion, frequently works video games and sports into his homilies, and plays in a band with his brothers and sisters.
