Ryan and Kate knew of each other years before they became a couple. While both grew up in Wisconsin, Kate grew up in Fond du Lac while Ryan grew up in Arbor Vitae, near Minocqua. Ryan got his initiation into the "Fondy" crew after meeting Jake Schultz freshman year of college at UW Stevens Point. Because of this friendship, there has been much overlap in K & R's mutual friends over the years. Circa 2017, the crew went to a Green Bay Gamblers game. Ryan and Kate were both in attendance, but timing was off. Fast forward to 2020, when K & R's mutual friends Julia and Jon got married. Kate was a bridesmaid and Ryan, a guest. Glances and smiles were exchanged throughout the day; it wasn't until the DJ started tearing down equipment that Ryan approached Kate to say he'd like to get to know her more. The feeling was mutual. K & R did 1.5 years of long distance between Madison, WI and Stevens Point, WI before deciding to move in together. They have spanned two different homes in two different towns, and are raising two fur babies together: Millie (Orange Tabby) and Scooter (Golden Retriever). The list of favorite things to do together includes hiking and exploring anywhere scenic, watching true crime shows, and sipping a craft cocktail at Northern Waters Distillery in Minocqua.
