Q + A

Why are you having your wedding so far away?

Two reasons really. One, because it is our home, and we want to share this with you. Two, maybe the distance will deter you from coming and we will save some money. Kidding about the second point!

Can we bring our children (or someone else's children)?

Sure, why not? There will be some activities to help keep them entertained. Just let us know how many and how old they are - and how much they eat to help with catering!!

Can we bring our pets?

As much as we love all furry critters, all of our girls will be having a short vacay themselves, so this will be a pet free zone.

Will this be a formal sit down, three course meal type situation?

That's a no. There will be some seating available for people who need to rest their weary bones and there will be a wide selection of finger food available to eat and, of course, pizza! And maybe some donuts or cupcakes - we haven't decided yet.

I'm feeling thirsty. What sort of drinks will you have on offer?

We will have filtered water and soft drinks, as well as red and white wine, sparkling wine, and light and full-strength beer available. The Derwent River is also very close by if you are wanting something just a little bit saltier.

I've heard Tasmania is pretty cold. How will I stay warm on the day?

Yes, Tasmania can be cold, and it can also be warm. As we will be in the middle of Autumn, our advice is to check the weather forecast in the leadup to the big day, be prepared and dress for all seasons. Think layers! Bring a blanket if you want!

We've just travelled all the way from the mainland. Where the hell are we going to stay around here?

Hopefully you have pre-booked your accommodation! There are a number of short-term rental accommodation options available around Opossum Bay and South Arm. As Easter is only a couple of days after the wedding, we do suggest getting in early to avoid any disappointment. When you are searching for accommodation, please do not book this anywhere such as Bruny Island, Kingston or Blackmans Bay, as these locations are a significant way from Opossum Bay - even though the accommodation apps will try to convince you otherwise!! If you are not sure, please get in touch with us to check. And if you are really stuck for accommodation, we can offer a patch of grass for a tent or swag!

We are staying locally. Can we get any supplies and food from this hick town?

You can pick up some basic supplies and food stuff from the Opossum Bay Store or the South Arm General Store. You can also grab some breakfast or lunch from the Touch of the MO cafe in South Arm or dinner from the South Arm RSL. If you are looking to stock up on a few more items, then you can find these at the Hill Street Grocer or the TCM Market both located in Lauderdale (about 20 minutes away). There are also some cafes, as well as a decent restaurant called Driftwood located in Lauderdale. If you prefer to shop at Coles or Woolworths, then you will find these larger stores a bit further up the road towards Hobart. There is a Coles at Glebe Hill (about 30 minutes from Opossum Bay) and a Woolworths at the Shoreline Shopping Centre in Howrah (about 35 minutes away). If you are feeling more adventurous, you can always try to catch some of the local bunnies as there is no shortage of those!

How will I get to the wedding?

That depends on where you are coming from. You could try walking if you are staying close by. There is limited public transport available, but the Metro bus does come right past our house in Opossum Bay so that could be an option for you if you wanted to leave early (* the last bus will leave Opossum Bay at 4.50pm). Otherwise, we suggest carpooling with friends or family. Taxis will also come to Opossum Bay. If you do live on the other side of the river and have a boat or windsurfer, we'd love to see you rock up in that! Teleporting is not currently an option.

I'm catching the fun bus to your shin dig. What are the details for this?

For those guests who are confirmed passengers, there will be a single pick up and drop off point in the CBD, so you will need to make your way to and from there. Pick-up: Grand Chancellor Hotel, Davey St Hobart, at 12.45pm for travel to St Barnabas Community Church and then on to the reception at 5 Bodega Court. Return: Pick up from 5 Bodega Court at 8.30pm for travel to Grand Chancellor Hotel.

I didn't want to get the bus so I've just driven all the way here. What do I do with my car?

Well, there is no valet parking available. So, feel free to park your car anywhere outside the fence along the property boundary, either on Bodega Court or Driftwood Drive. Please don't park inside the gate as we want to keep this area free for all guests.

What's with all the dead animals on the road??!

Tasmania is often referred to as the "roadkill capital of the world" due to the high number of animals killed on its roads. Most roadkill incidents occur between dusk and dawn, so please take care when travelling home as many native animals will be more active at night.

What can we get you for a gift?

Your presence is more than enough for us. No gifts required - just your good selves. Or your naughty selves. You choose!
