Kate and Josh met while swing dancing in Grand Rapids.&nbsp;While at GVSU, Kate met some very&nbsp;nice people that liked to go swing dancing downtown. These friends included&nbsp;friends of Josh's from high school.&nbsp;Josh was not a huge fan of dancing but after much cajoling, Josh's friends convinced&nbsp;him to try it again when he&nbsp;returned to Michigan after working in Wisconsin.&nbsp;

 It was at a&nbsp;swing dancing event at the Downtown Market that Josh first met the&nbsp;energetic and spunky blonde.&nbsp;&nbsp;Yet, Josh did not get the ball rolling until he&nbsp;received a Facebook notification indicating that&nbsp;Kate had&nbsp;liked&nbsp;one of his photos. Conversations&nbsp;eventually led to a quasi-first date to watch Dumb and Dumber and play the video game MonkeyBall. A few months and a few dates later, the two became official at the wedding of Derek and Kim Brenner.

How We Met

Kate completed a Harry Potter themed&nbsp;scavenger hunt one fine afternoon&nbsp;on Friday April 14, 2017. To complete the scavenger hunt, Kate was challenged with a series of clues in the form of QR codes. These QR codes&nbsp;directed her to a website with clues that included Harry Potter silliness as well as a random letter that was a part of a code.&nbsp;&nbsp;The code from the hunt spelled out "POTTERISOWL"...which is complete nonsense and left Kate slightly disappointed.&nbsp; However, Josh had one more trick up his sleeve and surprised&nbsp;Kate&nbsp;with a&nbsp;secret code breaker&nbsp;to translate "POTTERISOWL"&nbsp;into a new secret message...which was&nbsp;"MARRYMEKATE".&nbsp;Needless to say, she said YES!
