FAQs

What is the dress code for the wedding?

For the day of our wedding, we ask that guests adhere to a "Black-Tie Optional" or Formal dress code. With this dress code, tuxedos aren't required, but men can still wear a tux if desirable. Otherwise, they can select a formal suit and tie. For women, formal long or floor-length dresses are acceptable.

Is there a dress code for welcome drinks?

While there is no formal dress code, we encourage a casual cocktail style. Think flowy dresses, linen button downs, etc!

Where should we stay?

We’ve reserved room blocks & discounted rates at the Hilton Garden Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and Best Western. You can find booking details on our Travel page. If you're only staying one night or prefer another option, try the Best Western Kent Narrows Inn, Hyatt Place Kent Narrows & Marina, Holiday Inn Express Annapolis East–Kent Island, or look into Airbnbs in the area.

When should I arrive, and how many nights should I book my hotel for?

We recommend arriving on Friday, May 15 and booking your room for two nights: May 15 & 16. This way, you can join us for welcome drinks on Friday evening, which are open to all guests, and avoid the risk of Bay Bridge traffic on Saturday. If you plan to arrive on Saturday, May 16, please allow extra travel time for potential delays. You’ll need to arrive by 4:15 PM for the ceremony.

Will transportation be provided to the wedding?

Yes—we’ll provide shuttle service to and from the venue. Shuttles will pick up guests at the Hilton Garden Inn with one departure at 3:40 PM and a second at 4:10 PM. If you’re staying at the Best Western or Hyatt Place, those hotels are a short walk to the Hilton Garden Inn pickup; if you’re staying elsewhere, please plan your own transportation or meet us at the Hilton Garden Inn to catch the shuttle. After the reception, shuttles will run loops back to the Hilton Garden Inn from 10:00 PM–12:00 AM.

If I decide to drive to the venue, is there parking?

Yes. If you would prefer to drive yourself to the venue, there is complimentary parking available. Please be sure to arrive by 4:00-4:15, as the ceremony will begin promptly at 4:30 PM.

Are children allowed?

We love your children, but due to space restrictions, we cannot accommodate them on our wedding day.

Am I allowed to bring a plus-one?

We are not allowing additional plus-ones to our wedding, as we'd like to keep the guests list just to those who know us well. The name of every guest invited to attend is clearly listed on your invitation and no additional guests can be accommodated.

Will there be meal options for guests with dietary restrictions?

There will be vegetarian meal and hors d'oeuvre options available! If you have a more specific request, please reach out to us directly and we will inquire with our caterer.

What should we do in our free time before the wedding?

Visit our Things to Do page for ideas, or check out https://www.kentnarrowsmd.com/ for more recommendations and information.

Am I allowed to take photos at your wedding?

Yes! That being said, please refrain from doing so during our ceremony. We kindly as that you keep our ceremony "unplugged" to prevent distractions and allow our photographer to capture the moment.

If I have additional questions, who should I contact?

Please don't hesitate to reach out directly to Kate or Brendan. You can text us or shoot us an email at katelmurphy97@gmail.com.
