The tale of Tom and Kate begins on the Saturday of MLK weekend 2020 in the beautiful San Luis Obispo, California.

Kate awoke to a stunning day and no plans. While on her way to pick up her favorite breakfast burrito in the world (sausage breakfast burrito from Gus' Grocery) she accepted a date on a whim simply to fill her afternoon and at minimum, get some free drinks on the beach.

A few hours later fate began to weave the strands of their lives together when Tom arrived to pick up Kate for their date at Mr. Rick's Beachside Bar. Being a gentleman, Tom got out of the car to open the door for Kate in which she promptly replied "I can open my own doors thank you very much" (anyone who knows Kate will not be surprised, she has a terrible case of 'strong independent woman who doesn't need help' syndrome).

Several hours and (several coronaritas) later, Kate's plan for a day of free drinks with no strings attached were dashed as she found herself unwittingly too interested in Tom to let him pay for every round, and unable to get him out her mind that night as she worked the night shift.

Thus began Tom's several month quest to try to figure out Kate (and if she was on the spectrum or not). Through a string of incredibly romantic moments including a first kiss on a boulder on a deserted beach at sunset, goodbye kisses under a streetlight in the rain, and golden evenings chatting on Tom's roof (Kate hated every second of it) Kate began to describe Tom as a large problem for her as she had never meant to actually like him.

On Easter day 2020, Kate and Tom found the solution to her problem and decided to make things official.

They fell in love that summer while on a month long road trip across the west stopping at National Parks and meeting each other's families prior to starting their jobs that fall in the Bay Area. They stayed in the Bay Area for several years eventually becoming roommates in a tiny apartment in Walnut Creek for two wonderful years.

In 2023, Tom's new job brought them to Washington DC, where shortly after moving Tom asked Kate to marry him at golden hour in Colonial Williamsburg (Tom has a film minor and an eye for cinematic moments). They will be married fall 2024 in Williamsburg, Virginia.
