One day, Kaleb got a hold of Kates Snapchat and added her. Hearing that Kaleb is a complete nerd, she texted him these infamous words, So when are we building legos and watching Star Wars together? Luckily for her, these two things are two of Kalebs biggest hyper fixations, besides Magic, the Gathering. From there, Kate and Kaleb continued to Snapchat through the entire summer. Kaleb got to share his stories from Journey of Hope, and Kate got to share her stories from being a counselor at Interlochen Center of the Arts. Needless to say, they really got to see each others true colors shine, for better or for worse.

Then, Kate and Kalebs senior year at Western Illinois was about to commence. As they were both moving back to school, Kate sat there wondering, Is he going to ask me out,or did I just waste my time?. Luckily, within the first week of school Kaleb asked Kate out. They were at Kates apartment, sitting on complete opposite sides of her love seat, watching Star Wars Episode: III - Revenge of the Sith. Kaleb knew she was the one when he talked to her all the way through the movie.

The true test of Kate for Kaleb came later that week when Kate and Kaleb hung out at the Pi Kappa Phi house for the first time together. As they watched Gravity Falls (yes you did read that right) they were joined by many brothers barging in, as they normally did, and being in complete and utter disbelief that Kaleb had a girl over. Needless to say, after Sean McCaw blasted Eminems Rap God from the opposite side of the door, Kaleb knew that Kate was a keeper.

From there, Kate and Kaleb fell madly in love, so much so that they dated long distance while Kate student taught back at home. And then later they moved to Arkansas together for Kate’s first teaching job. Kate and Kaleb currently reside in Jonesboro, Arkansas. In September of 2024 Kate and Kaleb adopted Bo Peep. Kaleb proposed in November of 2024.
