Kate and Max met in the summer of 2015 at Little Brook Farm, where Kate was working as an intern and Max volunteered. Through some very unsubtle matchmaking work, they bonded over their love of animals, the outdoors, and good food, and soon turned into a summer romance. After the summer, Kate was slated to start vet school in Ithaca while Max continued to develop his business near Albany. They agreed to try to make it work, and managed to maintain a long distance relationship with frequent 3 hour drives to visit each other on the weekends.

They had a happy reunion after Kate's vet school graduation and in 2022 bought their home together. Since then they have been accumulating a delightful rescue farm including (but not limited to) cats, a dog, horses, and chickens!
