The Beginning

Kate and Kevin met in January of 2020. After 3 weeks of attempting to schedule a date, they immediately hit it off, having a 12-hour first date including bowling, dinner, a trip to the movies, and a Lion King movie marathon. They officially started dating on March 4th, 2020, after their first concert together, the Zac Brown Band.

Dating

March 2020 marked a big change for Kate and Kev’s relationship due to COVID. Typical date night spots were all shut down due to the pandemic, forcing them to improvise. The early months of their relationship involved a lot of cooking dates, game nights, movie marathons, and craft nights. With Kate completing her Undergraduate degree at Meredith College and Kev completing his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Duke University, even school became “date days,” with coffee and online lectures, studying for exams, and Kev practicing his practical skills with Kate as his patient. Spending so much time together progressed their relationship quickly. In May 2020, they took their first road trip up to Kev’s parents in Ohio for his 25th birthday. They continued to learn more about each other, meeting each other’s family and friends and falling deeper in love.

Kate and Kev started to plan for the future as Kate graduated from Meredith College in December 2020 and began working for a large group of urgent cares. Kev completed his in-person curriculum at Duke in July 2021, and left for 9-months of clinical rotations. Kate decided to move to Charlotte, as Kev traveled to Asheville, Raleigh and Atlanta. Spending nine months apart was a challenge in their relationship, but ultimately brought them closer together.

Kev graduated from Duke with his DPT in May 2022 and moved to Charlotte to be closer to Kate. He found his first PT position at Architech Sports and continues to work there. Since then, they have enjoyed exploring the city together, seeing concerts, trying new breweries and making friends around the area.

Proposal

Kev began planning to propose in January 2023. He finally got down on one knee at Freedom Park in Charlotte on March 11th, one week after their 3rd anniversary. After the proposal, Kev had surprises for his fiancée, including a photoshoot, dinner with their parents and drinks with the couple’s friends.
