Kate and I meeting last Labor Day weekend at a new hotel in Austin feels like it must have been fate. I am from Austin and have lived here almost all my life and plan to live here for the rest of it. Kate is from Ft. Worth, went to UT, and then was off to New York before a year of traveling the world. Kate had just returned to town after almost a decade when we met. I truly believe that if we had not met at that place, at that time, and on that day we may have never crossed paths, and that is why it must have been fate. For me, I was fortunate to meet her just days after she moved back to Austin. I have no doubt that if it had been a week later, that she would have already been taken or had a docket full of dates because of her stunning beauty. I don't remember much more from our brief first meeting because I was entranced by this gorgeous woman, but I knew I had to see her again. A week later, we went on our first official date and had an unforgettably amazing time. We talked about our childhoods, our families and the similarities, how Austin had changed, and what we wanted in the future. A few weeks later, Kate invited me to San Francisco for the weekend. I remember being so excited and nervous at the same time. We had a wonderful weekend, and it was at that point that I knew I was in love. Soon we were meeting each other's friends and families. We went to New York City over Thanksgiving so she could show me her past. Over New Year's we traveled to Costa Rica for a new adventure for both of us. Not long after that trip, I knew I would be asking Kate to marry me. For her Valentine's Day gift I informed Kate at dinner that we would be going to New Orleans for the weekend. That Saturday was so perfect and I just remember having so much fun with her and thinking the whole time how lucky I was to have her in my life and that I needed to make sure I would never lose her. I knew I was going to ask Kate to marry me soon, but I had not planned to ask her that weekend. Sometimes I have a tendency to procrastinate, and I typically overanalyze things, but that day was so wonderful, and I was overwhelmed with a great sense that I needed to take the leap and not delay making the best decision of my life one more day. I believe that timing is extremely relevant in almost all aspects and decisions in life, and it was finally my time. There was a reason I had to wait as long as I did to find true love….and it was more than worth the wait.

Louis' Story

When I went to the University of Texas at Austin for college ten years ago, I knew that Austin was my forever home - the place I wanted to grow old and raise my family. But before I was ready to do that, I knew I needed to explore a little bit and I was lucky enough to live in NYC for almost nine years. When it was time to leave NYC, I had the desire to see what life was like outside of the United States, and I found myself teaching preschool in Bangkok for a year. Still, I always knew the final destination was Austin - and my deepest hope upon arrival was that I would meet a partner with a good heart to build a life with. I must say that one of my biggest dreams has come true meeting Louis. Our romance has been a whirlwind, but I wouldn't have it any other way. We met less than a week after I arrived in Austin, and we were engaged 5.5 months later. Louis is a good and loyal man with a wonderful heart, and I can't wait to build a family with him and share a happy life together. I am very grateful for this next chapter in our lives. This contemporary hotel, overlooking Marble Falls Lake, is a mile's drive from Lakeside Park and a 1.4-mile drive from downtown Marble Falls.We have a room block at the La Quinta. The rate is $144 a night if staying both November 4th and 5th, or $164 a night if staying November 5th only.
