McKenzie
McKenzie - Bridesmaid
McKenzie and Katelyn met in college where they shared many classes, both working towards a degree in Early Childhood Education. You could say it was love at first sight - Katelyn and McKenzie were fast friends and began spending just as many hours in the library together as they did playing... umm... card games at McKenzie's place on the weekends! Today, they continue to make each other priorities in their lives during their promised, monthly dates.
Miranda
Miranda - Bridesmaid
Miranda and Katelyn met through Miranda's older sister, McKenzie, and quickly formed a friendship all their own. Their best memories come from the year they lived together and always seemed to consist of Miranda taking care of Katelyn whether that meant walking her home from her bar shift at The Roost at 1:00am or giving her a reason to go to the fitness center. Miranda, Katelyn, and McKenzie were all apart of the Bust A Move Beavers, the dance club at UMF. So, what we're saying here is the dance floor will be on FIRE all night long.
Sasha
Sasha - Bridesmaid
Sasha and Katelyn grew up nearby each other, attending rival high schools, but never crossing paths until they met at UMF where they both majored in Early Childhood Education. Sasha and Katelyn's bond grew stronger when they went from friends to roommates during Katelyn's junior year. Last summer, Katelyn was one of Sasha's bridesmaids when she got married and now they get to do it all over again!
Destiny
Destiny - Bridesmaid
Destiny and Katelyn met at UMF where they lived together and shared so many memories. After graduating, Destiny and Katelyn stayed in touch and got together for girls nights whenever their busy lives allowed for it. Last summer was when Katelyn realized Destiny would have to be one of her bridesmaids as she helped Destiny plan a beautiful bridal shower and bachelorette trip for their friend Sasha's wedding!
Abby
Abby - Bridesmaid
Abby and Katelyn met in middle school where they sat next to each other, playing the clarinet in band. Fast forward to the 2021 school year; Abby and Katelyn both began working at Kate Furbish Elementary and the following year, their classrooms were moved next door to each other! They knew they were destined to be each other's teacher-bestie! Later that school year, they took their friendship to a new level and attended The Era's Tour together. (life-changing is an understatement, don't even get us started) Now, Abby and Katelyn get to plan their weddings together!
Thom
Thom - Best Man
Thom... but always, Tommy. The man, the myth, the legend. Tommy has been by Zach's side since literal day one. 27 years of daycare, road trips to Florida, Chicago and Wisconsin, baseball games, trips Downeast, track meets, Blues Brothers quotes, chess games in the back seat of Lincolns/Cadillacs, playing Guitar Hero, incredible food, family memories, fishing trips and watching Napoleon Dynamite 3.7 million times. Despite the normal brotherly fights growing up, Tommy is Zach's favorite brother and is also one of the smartest, kindest, caring people on this earth. They have learned how to navigate life to this point together and Zach would not want anybody else by his side for his wedding day.
Griffin
Griffin - Groomsmen
Griff, Griffy, Sniffle's (as Colleen would say), $tocky G. Griff and Zach have been best friends since age 3. Griffin was instrumental in making Zach the person he has become. From ages 5-18, Griff and Zach have been best friends and teammates (or friendly rivals) in every and all sports. T-Ball, little league, All Stars, JV/Varsity baseball, elementary, middle, and high school basketball teams, Topsham Rec., Merrymeeting and High School soccer. Not to mention the hundreds of thousands of foam baseball games at daycare and pretending we were NBA players while shooting hoops in driveways. Hundreds of sleepovers, every single birthday, and various sports camps. Trips to Florida to watch the Red Sox Spring training (and of course, begging our dads to take us out to lunch at Hooter's). The infamous Maine>Kentucky>New Orleans>Key West road trip where the passenger side door of their van was ripped off at 11pm in New Orleans (sorry Dad). The door was then duct taped (2 entire rolls of duct tape)/tied with rope and the trip never skipped a beat. That was also where Griff earned his new name, Griffin Van Doerr. It'd be more appropriate to write a memoir in order to sum up this friendship. Just like Nate; Griffin and Zach are more than friends and are brothers for life.
George
George - Groomsmen
Practically Bowdoinham royalty, Zach and George spent hundreds of summer days walking, biking and swimming around Bowdoinham with their other best friend, Jeremy. Diving off the docks into the muddy Cathance River, collecting all the loose railroad spikes (for no reason at all), fishing off the tracks, asking our parents for $10 (almost every day) to get a pizza at the Town Landing, weekly sleepovers and listening to any and all music. Their love for music was their biggest connector, attending an absurd amount of concerts and constant jamming. G on the bass and Z on the drums, together in Zach's basement or George's garage they goofed around and attempted to start numerous bands (they were not actually good and this was probably more of an attempt to impress girls). Rise Against, The Used, and Green Day to Herbie Hancock and Snarky Puppy to Reel Big Fish and Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Zach and George share a love of all music. Dancing like idiots to Ska music and telling the dumbest jokes are two of Zach and George's favorite pastimes. Without a doubt, they are friends and brothers for life.
Joe
Joe - Groomsmen
The King of Cundy's Harbor, some say. Joe and Zach didn't meet until freshman year of high school but they instantly bonded over their love of sports and fishing. Although Joe is a Yankees fan (disgusting, I know...) their constant back and forth of baseball trash talk brought them together. They even were lucky enough to be in attendance for a Red Sox/Yankees brawl at Fenway (Joe Kelly Fight Club). Over the years Joe and Zach have made tons of memories fishing off his boat in Harpswell, jigging for squid, pulling friggin' traps guy (Lobster traps), ice fishing, Island camping, tossing a baseball/football/soccer ball, home run derbies, Red Sox vs Yankees/Sea Dogs games and drinking beers around numerous camp fires. Joe is a great guy, great friend and brother for life.
Ellison
Ellison - Groomsmen
Smellison, Elli, or Smelly as he is affectionately known has been a friend of Zach's since age 9 (7, 8, 10?). Almost every summer of Zach's childhood consisted of playing baseball with Ellison. Ararat All- Stars, Babe Ruth (Lee's Tire > R.A. Webber), Frozen Ropes fall ball, Smith-Tobey Legion ball, that one year playing for Freeport, the Highland Green Ducks.... and I am definitely forgetting a few. Zach and Ellison have always been great friends. Unlike Joe, Ellison understood the Red Sox are the superior baseball franchise and is something Zach and Ellison bonded strongly over. Red Sox games, Sea Dogs games, island camping trips, the now infamous Cali trip. Ellison is a genuinely great person and Zach's friend/brother for life.
Nate
Nate - Groomsmen
WeeMackee. Nate is as close to a brother as somebody not blood related can be. Zach and Nate met at age 3 at Colleen's daycare. Thousands (conservative estimate) of mornings watching Saved By the Bell before school in the daycare basement on a 12 inch TV with built in VHS, playing in the sandpile, flinging crab apples with sticks, hour long bus rides, millions of foam baseball games, Topsham track meets all over the state of Maine, playing pass with rocks in the outfield of the "Major league" little league team, working late nights as waiters and lying to tourists about the freshness of the Lobster rolls at Linda Bean's. Nate is the guy to turn to for any and all questions relating to how things work and understands Zach's sense of sarcasm like no other. Nate is not only an incredible friend but again, a brother.
