Our Wedding

OUR STORY

Her Story Bryston and I first crossed paths in 8th grade, while in health class. We never talked to each other in person, but I started getting emails from him. We would email back and forth about random things, but were too afraid to talk to each other in person. One night, he emailed me that he had a question to ask me. I remember looking back at my mom, smiling, and said "I think this boy is about to ask me out." Sure enough, the next email sent was, "Will you be my girlfriend." Of course, we still never talked in person during school, for at least a couple of weeks. We started holding hands after school when he walked me to my bus, during which my bus driver would honk his horn trying to separate us. We went to school dances together, cheered each other on during sporting events, went on dates with our younger brothers serving as chaperones, and cried as we both left for college. But we beat the odds and made it through high school together, and then college, and then grad school. And here we are, marrying each other in front of all of you, after spending over 11 years together. I could not have asked for a more supportive partner, personal chef, jokester, fashionista, and personal stress ball as Bryston has been for me. We can't wait to celebrate with all of you, and I can't wait to say yes to my forever person.

His Story My first memories of Katelyn were not really of "Katelyn" but of "Knee brace girl", as she had worn a small knee brace on her knees whenever I saw her. This remained the case through 7th grade and partially into 8th grade until we began having classes together. The class I give the most credit to for leading me to begin crushing on Katelyn was our health class. In this class, my best friends, Corben and Baylin, were almost always casually picking on her, which is still very much relevant today. Through these interactions, I developed a crush on Katelyn and began emailing her for a few months. Very rarely did those conversations during that period make it to face-to-face, but they continued. After some time, and asking others if they thought she liked me too, I came home, sat in our kitchen, and typed up something along the lines of "will you be my girlfriend?". To my surprise and delight, she said yes (and I love you)! E-mails continued for a week before Katelyn informed me it was "National Hug Week" and I had to make an effort to actually come see her. Had she not imposed this fake holiday, I doubt we would've made it through the week. However, I complied and it began our unconventional, middle-school-sweetheart, love story that I get to cherish forever. All the discipline for hand holding in the hallways, honks by Katelyn's bus driver, and chaperoned dates that followed were all worth it. A few weeks turned into a few months, which became a few years all too quickly. We sustained our fair share of highs and lows, but our love, respect, and support for each other remained unwavering throughout. Every day I am able to cherish our awkward-ly beautiful love story and be grateful to be a character in it, but the story would be nothing without my loving, crazy, kind, competitive, supportive, and empathetic counterpart. Thank you for being apart of the story by joining us on our big day as it is just getting started!
