Her Perspective

Let’s make one thing clear, 2019 did not go as planned. I did not have falling in love on my 2019 bingo card. I was already set to move across the country to Seattle and start a new adventure with my best friends. Counting down the days to the move, I was a supervisor at LaBon Bakery when a new hire came through our doors. He is persistent, funny, easy to talk to, cute, BUT I was not about to get into a relationship right before opening a new chapter. As time passed, being around Matt became something I looked forward to. It felt as easy as breathing, and we FINALLY made it official on September 13, 2019.

His Perspective

She was so out of my league: fierce, beautiful, and… my boss. I never thought Kate would give me the time of day, but it was fun to be around her. She is kind, warm-hearted, so adventurous. Learning more about who she is just made me want to be around her more. Then she told me, “I’m not looking for a relationship. I’m moving to Seattle at the end of the year.” We continued to get to know each other and before she left, I told her, “I don’t care if you move to the moon, I want to be with you.” With our commitment to each other, we made it official on September 13, 2019.

Our Journey

That fall, we made the most of the time we had together, not realizing how deeply we cared for each other. So, by the time Kate packed her bags, we chose each other, no matter the distance.

Long distance was HARD. We missed each other, but we knew that it was only temporary. Matt planned to move to Seattle in April 2020. And no, we didn’t have a global pandemic on our 2020 bingo card. Even so, nothing could stop our commitment to each other. Matt moved in. It wasn’t what we expected, but exactly what we needed. We had time and space to grow deeper in our relationship, frolic in a practically empty city, and explore the beauty of the landscape in Washington. We created our own traditions from magical moments.

We loved Seattle, but we knew it was time to move back home. So we packed our car and decided to road trip across the country!

They say a road trip is the ultimate test of a relationship, and it only confirmed what we already knew: we were meant for each other. We fell in love with being in the car together. From Washington to Oregon through Idaho to Utah to Colorado to Kansas and Missouri to Tennessee to North Carolina to Maryland and home to New Jersey. We made memories we'll forever cherish.

Now 4 years later, we’ve created a beautiful life with our fur baby Gryffie. Thank you so much for celebrating our love and our journey! We are so excited to see you on our 5th anniversary for the next adventure in our lives!
