Jacob and Katelyn initially met one another while attending school at Springfield Elementary. Later, they attended Platteview High School together; however, they ended up in different classrooms for the majority of their schooling and never had the chance to get to know one another. In fact, it wasn't until 3 years after they both graduated high school that they finally reconnected in November of 2021.


Katelyn initially reached out to Jacob, and they discovered that they were both obtaining their bachelor degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The two spent a lot of time together, but it wasn't until December that Katelyn finally decided to "make the first move" by nervously holding his hand. In January of 2022, Jacob asked Katelyn to make things "official."


On August 12th of 2023, Jacob proposed to Katelyn in the Hamann Rose Garden. Shortly after, the two began planning their big day. They are so excited to celebrate their love together, and are incredibly grateful to have friends and family supporting them in their long life journey together.

Jacob and Katelyn first met at Springfield Elementary School, and knew of each other throughout their time at Platteview High School. Surprisingly, they rarely interacted and knew relatively little about each other. However, they would be lying if they said they never found the other at least a little bit cute.

Jacob and Katelyn's first date together after becoming an "official" couple. The two had re-connected around November of 2021, and were always eager to spend time together. Jacob loved planning fun and unique dates, but he was nervous to "make the first move." Luckily, Katelyn wasn't afraid to eventually lay a kiss on him.

Jacob graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Emerging Media Arts. He was very thankful for Katelyn's morning Dunkin Donuts deliveries after long weekends making student films and all-nighters in the computer lab.

Jacob and Katelyn celebrated their one-year anniversary together on January 16th, 2023. Around this time, Jacob was enthusiastic about the potential of spending the rest of their lives together. Katelyn lovingly requested that the two of them graduated college first before he bought a ring. He reluctantly obliged.

Katelyn graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with her Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology. She was so grateful to have Jacob's support during long nights of studying organic chemistry and microbiology.

Before the two officially left the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, they wanted to take a commemorative photo of the place they had their first date together. Their first date was catching up together over coffee at the Dunkin Donuts inside UNL's Love Library.

The two started their day with a quick lunch at one of their favorite downtown restaurants. Then, they took a romantic stroll through the Lincoln Children's Zoo.

Finally, they took a little walk through the Hamann Rose Garden, where Jacob asked Katelyn a very important question - and of course, the answer was "yes."
