Our Wedding

Mitch was born and raised in Mankato, and continued to live and work in Mankato for his family’s business. I lived in Mankato for 5 years, and attended Nursing School at South Central College in North Mankato. Our paths finally crossed on Valentine’s Day 2015, and that’s where our story begins. We were introduced by mutual friends, Kenzie Schletty (former roommate) and Chantz Hewitt (Groomsman).&nbsp; The ‘Day of Love’ lived up to its name.&nbsp;Mitch was charming, funny,&nbsp;sweet, and we hit it off right away!

 





After 6 fun & exciting months of dating we received news that stopped us in our tracks. There is no way to prepare yourself or describe the feeling you get when you hear the word, cancer. Mitch was diagnosed with a poorly-differentiated synovial sarcoma tumor in his neck. Or as Mitch would say, “A massive ball of suck.” Throughout the following year, Mitch underwent Chemotherapy, surgery, radiation therapy, and recovery. From 8 hour chemo sessions to life-threatening hospital stays, we discovered not only ourselves as individuals, but as a couple. I never heard the words, “why me?” come out of Mitch. From the beginning of his diagnosis, he had this extremely contagious positive outlook of, “Face it, Fight it, Beat it.” Even while he was at his sickest moments, he was still cracking jokes and putting a smile on everyone’s face. Mitch is the strongest & best person I know. So, what happened to be the most shocking news and most difficult journey of our lives, ended up bringing us closer than we could have ever imagined. We've learned that we can overcome anything, and that loving, laughing, &&nbsp;stopping to smell the roses is what life is all about.&nbsp; 





 











After one year of treatments, we were due for some fun. We loved every bit of life together being cancer-free. That year we took a trip to Duluth, attended concerts, went to the Country festival,&nbsp;Wefest up in Detroit Lakes, we went to California and explored San Diego, traveled to the romantic Lovers Key, FL where my sister & brother-in-law got married, visited Green Bay and experienced Lambeau Field, and started looking into buying a home. We found our perfect home in Mankato, and closed in January 2017. However, saying that it needed a hug would be an understatement. Luckily for this girl, Mitch was willing to take on our fixer upper, and has completely transformed our entire house in less than 1 year. 





 











As a Christmas gift, Mitch had bought us plane tickets to Ft Myers in February to visit my parents. I thought he bought us the tickets as a nice gesture, knowing how often I like to visit my parents. Little did I know, he was scheming something MUCH more. Our trip happened to fall over Valentine’s Day, 2 years since we’d met&hellip; coincidence?!? I think not! On Valentine’s Day 2017, Mitch brought me to&nbsp;the beach to watch my favorite view, the sun set over the ocean. After the sunset, Mitch got down on one knee and asked me the best and easiest question. YES YES YES! We spent the evening celebrating on the beach, it was the most perfect night! 





 











Long story short, we are so lucky to have found such a deep love and we’re so excited for June 30th, 2018! Our journey has only just begun!&nbsp;&nbsp;
