Our Wedding

Our story began in the early months of 2022; We met each other through social media and began talking intermittently nearly daily. I (Phil) found out through Kate's social media accounts that she also was a member at the Planet Fitness in Biddeford (ME). Months previous, all of my (Phil) date proposals were shot down. I had invited Kate to Dinner multiple times and assumed with her college courses, and balancing night shifts at the time she was busy. Around May, I noticed Kate was documenting her fitness progressions of Instagram and kept acknowledging how great she was doing. I had generally gone to Planet Fitness (PF) around the same time daily, right after work. I hadn't run into Kate at PF previously to that date. One day however, while working out with fellow Groomsman and co-worker at the time (Garrett Havard), Kate had approached me while I was doing a shoulder workout. I can only presume that Kate was enamored with my muscles and the intense training being conducted. Kate and I started talking and walking on the treadmill towards the end of the workout. After we both walked out of Planet Fitness; Kate noticed the nicest ride in the parking lot, a brand-new moped, was mine. Kate was hooked immediately. July came around and we had been lifting together 3-4 times a week since. Kate invited me to walk the beach with her in Wells. When I arrived Kate informed me that her family had come up to visit and they rented a beach house nearby. I hadn't met Kate's family before this point, nor heard much about them. I wasn't nervous by the comment, but I was astonished/nervous by just how many people there were. I got to meet nearly 25 of Kate's closest family and family friends all at the same time, and apparently it went well. They welcomed me in almost immediately and invited me back later on for a game night. Kate and I had been officially dating a couple months; and when late August rolled around, Kate was on the fence with school between a Physician Assistant or nursing degree at UNE. After deliberation with her family, Kate decided to change her focus to nursing. I fully supported her decision and even suggested transferring somewhere other than UNE. The only obstacle posed by leaving UNE was the housing predicament. Housing in southern Maine is very pricy and often times stressful/inconvenient especially during the college season. At the time, I was also beginning my career for USPS and had to complete training 2 hours away from Biddeford, ME. A week after the Center/Schutt moving crew helped relocate Kate's belongings to another dorm, Kate was still deciding whether or not she wanted to transfer schools. I (Phil) suggested that Kate move into my apartment, and it appeared to be a unanimous decision from Kate and her family. It didn't take long for Kate to get comfortable with the apartment, and now nearly 3 years later, it feels more like a home than ever. In late 2022, Kate had visited NY to meet my grandparents and my dad (Phil Sr + Grandma Barb + Phil Jr.). And Kate also got to witness the Phillies win the NLDS in person in Philadelphia for her first Philly fan experience. Mid 2023, I brought my mother Marcella (Marcy/Chief) to Vermont to meet Kate's parents and grandparents one weekend. While there, I went up to Scuba Steve (Kate's father) in his car while Kate and Danielle (Kate's mom) went in to bail Brayden (Kate's brotha) out of school. I asked Steve for permission to ask his daughter to marry me. Steve seemed shocked but respected the fact that I asked him. Steve gave me permission and I let him in on the idea that I planned to ask Kate during a spontaneous trip to Denver Colorado. I purchased a ring from Kay Jewelers with the fashion/style advice from my mother (Marcy). The next week Kate and I found ourselves scaling Red Rocks national park and amphitheater. I channeled my inner Rocky Balboa and asked Kate "What do you think you're doing for the next 40 or 50 years?"... I then told her that I would love for many more adventures like these in our future and then asked her to marry me. Kate said yes and managed to squeeze the very inaccurately sized ring on her finger. After over a year of engagement, we are enjoying the engaged life and wedding planning phase and are now counting down the days to our Wedding Day and can't wait to celebrate with our closest family and friends!

Also known as "Bugs" - Brother; looks like the younger brother, is in fact older. Currently a fellow mailman. He is single; in case the ladies reading were wondering. I would lead block for him during his running back days, now he'll be by me for my big day.

Cole

Kate's blood brother - my soon to be brother-in-law. Hard working intelligent guy, always there to help with me or his sister if needed. Not old enough to drink, don't let him trick you. Love hate relationship with Dairy. (Pina Coladas are okay) Not too shabby at soccer; can still beat him 1 on 1 in basketball though.

Brayden

Lifelong friend: graduated GCS Highschool together and grew up on the same street. A part of the bike ride crew as kids and now a fellow mailman. Always there if needed, been there through thick and thin. Always up for a good beer. Hockey fiend and is somehow still a Rangers fan. 

Zach

A good friend and softball coach kept me on the team even after being ejected. Who knew my first friend in Maine would become a groomsman after bonding over wrestling drunk crazy people. Current firefighter and can never turn down a hotdog. Suffers from being a Dallas Cowboys fan but we can all forgive him. 

Matt 

G-Dink; Former security officer co-worker, survived the days of monitoring the psych ward and now a groomsman. Most commonly known to sport a solid mustache. Was my gym partner at PF when I originally met Kate. A member of the turbo team.

Garrett

Lifelong friend and also grew up on the same street as Zach and I, another 2 houses down. Graduated GCS together, played nearly every sport together, and has always been there for me. No-brainer he would've been a groomsman. Will go toe to toe with you on any sports debate. Still grieving the Eagles win over the Patriots in Superbowl 52.

Dalton

Jay "Coors light" Wolinsky; Kate's Uncle and a fellow participant in garage beers. Always down to quote Adam Sandler/any comedy movie from 90's-now. The Blackstone griddle/smoker gets nervous around him when dinner hour approaches. Excited to inherit him as a soon to be Uncle-in-law. (ask him about his man stamp)

Jay 

From "auntie & me" craft nights to now being the one who will be standing by my side when I say, "I DO." Julie is my voice of reason and one of my biggest supporters since day one. She is most likely to bring all the snacks to the function and makes the best birthday cakes. It's a no brainer for her to be my MOH as she never fails to make me feel special. I’m so grateful to have her on this journey as her good vibes and energy has helped make wedding planning feel like a breeze!!

Julie 

If there’s one thing Lori knows, it’s how to bring the fun! Whether it’s showing up with the “purple stuff” (blackberry liquor) to any family function or singing Bruno Mars at the top of her lungs. She’s the life of any party and the person who always reminds me to look on the bright side of things. Her contagious energy never fails to make your day feel magical.

What began as cousins led to a friendship. Lauren has an adventurous heart, a free spirit, and energy that turns the ordinary into something unforgettable. You will find her always chasing new experiences, whether she’s strumming her guitar in a new country or turning heads with her effortlessly chic style. She inspires me to dream bigger, laugh louder, and never be afraid to stand out.

Who knew a lifelong friendship would begin on the Mill River basketball court in 2018!! Sadira has a brave heart that inspires me to never live in fear. She has a love for spontaneous adventures, and a talent for making the world more beautiful through her paintings. Even though miles separate us, her support and creativity always feel close by.

My soon to be "Cousin-in-Law," Liz instantly felt like family when Phil introduced us. Since then, she has been my rock through some of life’s craziest moments... like surviving nursing school and navigating the streets of Norwich, NY on the way to Cait's wedding! She’s always down for a good trauma dump and a weekday glass of wine!

Yes... another Cait!! Can ya tell Phil's family has a thing with repetitive names?! The moment Philip introduced me to Cait, she welcomed me into the family with open arms (and a glass of wine!). She's the game night liaison of the Adams/Nelson household and also introduced me to the world of sourdough baking. I'm so excited to call her my future sister-in-law!

Also known as "Jellybean" (Kate’s cousin). Jensen’s smile could light up any room. She’s a bundle of energy, with a passion for dancing and cheerleading... and let's be honest, glitter probably follows her wherever she goes! With her sparkle and moves, we have no doubt she’ll be tearing up the dancefloor on our big day.

The girl who knows every nearby ice cream joint and will put any rock-climbing wall to shame. This girl never fails to make us laugh with her witty jokes. We know Leah (Phil's niece) will help make our day special as this girl loves to sing and dance.

Best hair award goes to... you guessed it! Jackson's (Kate's cousin) energy never fails to make your day a little brighter. We have no doubt he will do an amazing job as a ring bearer and can't wait to have him be a part of our special day.
