Our Wedding

1.&nbsp;How did you meet? Geoff: Plenty of Fish, 2019, New Year's day. I remember being ecstatic. Started with a single message and a few more later we were set to meet that night at the McMenamin's on the waterfront. From the moment we sat down we couldn't stop talking. Talk about new beginnings. Kate: We technically were introduced online. We used Plenty of Fish. He was dead center in my screen on one of those "suggestion banners" that advertise profiles. I honed right in and sent him a message. We exchanged a handful of messages almost right away and then met at McMenamins that same night. It was New Year's Day 2019. 2.&nbsp;What was your first impression of him/her? Geoff: She was charming, smart like a whip. Ambitious. Felt like I had known her forever. Kate is the most beautiful woman I've ever met. Kate: I thought he was handsome. I thought his eyes and smile were so warm and I felt instantly comfortable. I felt like I had known him my entire life but just hadn't seen him in a while. 3. Tell about your favorite memory with him/her. Geoff: It's hard to choose from all of them. Early on though I had a pretty good inkling that we were in it for the long haul. We had known each other only a few months at that point but I just couldn't see myself moving away without her. So I just asked it -- would she be willing to move to Huntsville, Alabama with me to start a new chapter? She said yes nearly right away and I was just overwhelmed. I was so excited. Kate: This is hard. I have so many memories of laughing at something together that I think most other people don't think is all that funny. -- I think our trip to Victoria, BC last year would have to be my favorite. I just had the best time with him exploring the city and the natural beauty of the place. 4.&nbsp;How did he propose? Geoff: Well with Kate you have to know that you need to do the things least suspected. Innocuous. Simple. Out in the open. So after I found the perfect ring for her, got a little wooden flip top box to hide it in I just thought. What in the world, how will I... Then it came to me, just drop it in with the groceries as a "wow, what could this possibly be?" Told her there was a little something in there and she had it in her hands, opened it up and she melted. I laughed. She said yes. Kate: Well there's been a couple of attempts but the one that finally stuck was that one day he came home from grocery shopping and told me that he got me something. He said it was in the bag. Naturally, I was all excited and went up to the grocery bag to see a candle and what I thought was a really cool zippo lighter. He knows I love candles. I think I smelt the candle first and then picked up the box that was shaped like the old lighters. That's when I noticed it was made of wood and I opened it to see the most beautiful ring. I was totally surprised. He was standing beside me and just asked will you marry me? I was so happy and said yes! 5.&nbsp;What do you love about him/her? Geoff: There's a rhythm. When we're thinking of each other one of us ends up messaging the other. When problems arise up, we're both all-in and ready to go. I can trust her, and we can talk about everything. I love that we are always learning from one another. She's open, honest and imaginative. Always a few steps ahead. She cares deeply about family and togetherness, and that just warms me all the way through. Kate: Geoff and I just jive. I love his goofy sense of humor and patience. I love his unquenchable thirst for knowledge. His ambition and desire to be successful and not get bogged down by anything. He's a problem solver and a fixer and I love that I can depend on him to be there when things are hard. We have the best conversations. We can get really deep into philosophical thoughts and banter easily. I think he has the heart of a nomad and that means I can always count on him to be down for an adventure. 6.&nbsp;Describe him/her as if you were telling someone who didn't know them. Geoff: Kate is an imaginative, caring and beautiful woman with an entrepreneurial spirit. She's crafty and loves getting into new things. She's incredibly brave, open and honest. She knows what she wants out of life and strives for it. She ultimately wants things to be better for those around her and for life to be easy. In all of that, she doesn't shy away from difficulty -- she'll jump in head first if that's the best way forward. Her spirit is that of a teacher and artist. Kate: Geoff is ambitious, very intelligent, but also easy going. He has a very bubbly and goofy personality around people, but can be serious and pensive at home. He prizes his independence and it's important for him to have strong, self-assured people in his life. He's disciplined, independent, funny, caring, an adventurer, gamer, reader, gym rat, animal lover, tinkerer, future inventor, dreamer, and (thanks mostly to my poking) an aspiring DIYer. 7.&nbsp;What do you look forward to in the rest of your life together? Hopes, dreams, etc... Geoff: We're planners that's for sure and that means plenty! We want to start a family here in the coming years, find that "forever" home, and just get out, see the world. There's dreams of new businesses, new friends, a deeply connected network of family and friends. The future is bright and I'm glad to walk through all of it with Kate at my side. Kate: Longterm - I can't wait to start a family together. I think he will be a great father and I want to share that with him and that's not something I've really wanted before. I want to share the mundane and day to day but I'm looking forward to all our travels. We have so much that we want to explore together -- whether it's hobbies or seeing the world, I want him there with me for all of it.
