Our Story

Matthew and Kate's story began at the wedding of Matt's childhood best friend. A mutual friend, Bailey, spotted Matt at the event and, upon realizing that he was single, decided she had the perfect blind date for him. Matt and Kate met face to face just one week later when the would-be matchmaker invited the future couple to her husband's surprise 30th birthday party. For weeks, Kate would only see Matt on weeknights for dinner dates. Matt realized this relationship might really be going somewhere when he was granted his first Saturday night date! The rest is history.About a year and a half after they started dating, Matt proposed to Kate. It was a chilly December night, and they had just picked out the very first "live" Christmas tree Kate had ever had (his name was Douglas). The merry couple went back to Matt's house to decorate the tree with mementos from Matt's childhood. Each ornament seemed to have a sentimental story Matt told while Elvis' Christmas album spun on the record player and the Netflix yule log crackled in the background. Just when there seemed to be no ornaments left, Matt presented Kate with a red, velveteen ball. "Oh this one has something neat inside!" he said. Kate opened it to find a gorgeous diamond ring! In her excitement, she didn't even let Matt ask the question. It went something like this...Kate: Omg is this for real? Is this happening?! I can't believe this! Are you gonna get down on one knee? No, no, no stand back up! Matt: ...so?Kate: Yes, of course, yes!!Kate and Matt will have been dating for 3 years when their wedding comes around, and they look forward to spending the rest of their lives together. They can't wait to celebrate on the beach with their closest family and friends!
