Katelynns Story Sean and I met early in our junior high careers at Jenifer Junior High. We were not yet friends, but I always thought he was cute;). That was until the second semester of our Freshman year at Jenifer. Sean was a teaching assistant for a class and I had an online class held a couple doors down. Every day we would walk the same way. The first several weeks mwe would say a few things in passing, these became conversations about anything and everything. These days he tells me that he would wait at the bottom of the staircase just to pretend to run into me so we could walk to class together. After months of this, he invited me to go see the live action version of Aladdin. So on our first date (on my 15th birthday) we went to the movies with some friends of his. Over that following summer I fell in love with Sean and we enjoyed an odd sophomore year together (COVID). Following that we had a wonderful Junior year with some of the highlights including ; his football games at Lewiston Highschool, The Distinguished Young Woman of Lewiston program, and our first Prom together. Sean and I broke up during our senior year of highschool, this was a hard part of our story. Yet, when I think about it it was the most beautiful opportunity for both of us to learn what forgiveness looks like and what sort of real love we would need to have to make this last. Now we will be 20 and 21 when we get married. Sean today is a man of great faith, compassion, patience, and maturity + all of things I loved about him at 16. We ask for your prayers over our marriage and I thank God for our engagement and for the way that we have changed each other. Sean’s Story Katelynn and I met, for the very first time, at a friend’s house in 9th grade. We barely talked and occasionally exchanged eye contact, but nothing more. That same year, in the second semester, a crush started to form. She and I both had classes on the second floor of Jenifer Junior High School. I was a TA for an 8th grade history class, and she was taking a high school course in the library at the end of the hallway (part of the reason for the crush was because she was is so smart :). Soon, after finding out where her locker was, and spending lots of time standing in the hall talking, I asked her out to the movies for her 15th birthday! I was so nervous! After that first date, I fell stupidly hard for Katelynn. We shared a beautiful freshman summer together, where we fell more in love, and continued on into Highschool. As COVID struck, we stayed close, grew together, and made it through sophomore and junior year to be seniors!! Katelynn and I ended up breaking up twice within the same academic year. This phase of our relationship taught us a lot, but most importantly it showed us that God has a plan, and if we want to be together, then we need to fight for it. And that’s exactly what we did. Now we are here, engaged, and so much more in love than ever before. I got to watch Katelynn grow into the faithful, loving, kind, and incredible woman that she is today, and I can’t help but be proud when looking back at the 16 year old freshman who had no idea how blessed he truly was. We ask for prayer over our relationship as we dive into this new chapter of our lives together, and I am so thankful to my savior that he has given me a woman that embodies all aspects of God’s love.
