Avery and Watauga County are speckled with renown hiking trails and places to sight-see. Popular local hikes include Rough Ridge, Flat Rock and Beacon Heights. Several waterfalls are also worth the trip: Linville Falls, Elk River Falls and Upper/Lower Creek falls.
