Our Story

Her side:

My friend France and I went to a joint birthday party for Edward (her now husband) and John. Kenny was John's roommate and came out to Cantina Rooftop for the party. It was raining hard that night, so we stayed mostly indoors. I stayed in the corner with Eddie and a few other friends to hang out. Kenny came in with a blue t-shirt, black hat, and jeans (apparently, he'd come from work) - but at this point, I had no idea who he was.

The DJs were playing and while I was dancing with France, Kenny came up to dance behind me (we were back-to-back). I normally don't dance with strangers, but I didn't want to be rude so I finished off the song and said "thank you" to Kenny as I walked off the dance floor. I later found out he was one of the roommates at John's house, so I said good bye when I left. He genuinely said, "It was nice to meet you," so I added him on Facebook later that day.

We ended up hanging out later that week during my first week of work in the city, got caught in the rain, and ended up at Maison Kayser for 4 hours. The rest was history.

His side:

6 years ago, a torrential downpour would turn two unexpecting people to cross paths that would change the rest of their lives. It was July 2018, I had gotten out of a 30 hour workday into the pouring rain and when I got home, Eddie, John and our friend, Spano, who was visiting from California, convinced me to go to the club for their joint birthday party. With some convincing, I went to join them in their celebration with the consensus that I wasn't going to drink since I was already tired. While at the club, I thought I would try to get people to have fun and dance and one of them being Kat at the time. I ended up taking care of our friend who was visiting that night and when I returned home the next morning, I noticed I got a friend request. I asked Dena, John's girlfriend at the time, "Who the hell is this? I don't add random people." She yelled at me and said, "You met her last night!" I said, "Oh okay, I guess I'll add her."

We were on our way to Eddie's house in Long Island and got stuck in the rain for 3 hours and by the time we arrived, Kat was leaving. I felt really bad about the interaction and the tardiness that I asked her to come hang out after work since I'll be flying my drone in the city. Unbeknownst to us, that would be the start of our journey together; being stuck at Maison Kayser for 4 hours while waiting out the rain to now we're stuck with each other forever.
