Our Wedding

Matt and Katherine met in July 2017 in Midland, Texas. Both worked for Schlumberger Oilfield Services and ended up in Texas as a result of a job transfers from Northern Canada and Mexico respectively. Having been introduced by coworkers over a few pints of 90 Schilling Ale at the local Beer Gardens, cheering on the local Rockhounds baseball and Jackalopes hockey team quickly followed. A brewery filled trip to the Oregon Coast and a visit to Big Bend National Park concluded their time together in Texas as Matt went back to Canada in the Fall of 2017. In 2018, Katherine came to visit Banff National park in Canada as Matt was working in nearby Revelstoke as a Conductor with CP Rail. Matt then was introduced to the majority of the Gamber clan at Thanksgiving that November. Katherine after being transferred back home to Ohio left Schlumberger at the end of 2018 to pursue her dream of travelling the entire world. 2019 took Katherine to all over Asia and South America, while Matt continued to work on the railroad all the live long day. Highlights together included a cold swim at the Banff Springs Hotel in March. 2020 brought Katherine to Kimberley, BC, for a visit that turned into a long stay as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. Travel plans put on hold, they frequented The Shed for many pints of Backhand Stout and Trivia Nights. A mid year transfer to Golden introduced Katherine and Matt to downhill mountain biking at Kicking Horse Resort, and many hiking trips in and around the Rocky Mountains. Matt and Katherine were engaged in October, 2020 just before Katherine flew south to finish her education in medical sales. Katherine landed a job in Columbus, Ohio and continues to develop as a medical sales rep in ophthalmology. Matt left his job at the railway and is awaiting his visa approval to move down to Columbus. With the finish line in sight the long-distance journey will be coming to an end October 15, 2022. We hope to see you there!
