Matt and Katherine both attended the University of Washington from 2013 to 2017, and took part in the Husky Marching Band all four years of their college careers making many memories and friends along the way. Katherine played the trombone and Matt played the mellophone, (that’s a marching French horn!) it was there that they met during their Sophomore year of college. Matt had a secret crush on Katherine, but thought she was an upper classman and was nervous to make a move. Katherine however was looking for as many new friends as possible, being from out of state. Eventually, Matt built up his courage one Game Day and walked with Katherine from a President's Pep Band to Lunch and they soon began dating afterwards that fall in 2014. Matt says he had a strong feeling that Katherine was the one when she gave him a huge slab of spanakopita (Greek spinach feta pie) to take home when they were first dating. Food is the key to the heart! In 2017 Matt and Katherine graduated with their degrees in Civil Engineering and Environmental Science and began working and living in Tacoma, WA where they still live today. Matt and Katherine would go on to travel the United States and the world together, visiting friends and family on both coasts from Oregon to Vermont. They have visited foreign countries such as Ireland, England and Spain and can’t wait to add more to the list soon. They also enjoy cooking, baking and eating foods from other cultures. But nothing quite makes them happier than cozying up with their Australian Cattle Dog, Ace, for a night in. Matt and Katherine decided to make things official in 2024, and Matt proposed with a beautiful ring in July after whisking Katherine away on a surprise overnight trip to Olympic National Park on the Washington Coast, where he proposed at sunset. Matt and Katherine would like to thank their family and friends for their support and love throughout the years. They cannot wait to celebrate their marriage with all of you come May!
