In April 2022, Katherine was studying abroad in Spain through Calvin and Chase was in nursing school at Trinity Christian in Chicago. Katherine created a "highlight reel" video of her life for her friend group. Unbeknownst to her, Katherine's friend Sara had a plan for this video. Sara's fiancé, Zach, sent this video and Katherine's number to his best friend, Chase. And the rest is history.

Chase and Katherine texted for a month while Katherine explored Europe to finish her semester abroad. Three days after Katherine made it back to America, Chase took her out for lunch. Their lunch date ended up lasting 5 1/2 hours and they had to leave because it was dinner time.

Twelve days after first meeting each other, Chase and Katherine became official on June 12, 2022. Things moved pretty fast as they went on a lot of dates and had lots of fun in the summer. Two months in to their relationship, Chase and Katherine started long distance as they both went back to school.

Chase's senior year was filled nightly facetimes, Katherine visiting Chicago for soccer games, Chase surprising Katherine in Michigan, and spending every second together during school breaks. They learned how to communicate and bond even while 180 miles apart.

May 2023 was a big month as Chase graduated college, Katherine went on a May Term to Kenya, and they officially ended long distance. They had another fun filled summer before Katherine entered her senior year and Chase settled into his first job as a night shift nurse at Holland Hospital. They had so many adventures that year living in the same state!

Katherine graduated in May 2024 but still had to do her student teaching. This next school year was filled with family vacations, intentional date nights and lots of conversations about the future.

After 3 years of dating, Katherine finally gave Chase permission to propose. He somehow managed to surprise her on September 27, 2025 and as the sun was setting over Lake MI, he got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife. And she said yes! Katherine couldn't stop smiling for days.

They were so excited to start this next chapter! As fiancés, they have been busy planning a big party for all their friends and family, going on vacations, squeezing in workouts after work and learning more about what a Godly marriage should look like. Chase and Katherine are so excited to get married and experience what God's future plan is for them!
