Katherine and Joe met in the Summer of 2019. She moved to Aiken after college for a job and he was home for the summer. Joe met Katherine’s brother, Ben, the year prior while at school in Clemson so the connection was instant. They were in the same young adults group at church and would see each other often. Naturally, they hit it off as friends and would joke often during hangouts. They were even tennis doubles partners that Summer. It was during those first few months that Katherine developed a crush on Joe. Fast forward to December of 2022. Katherine and Joe reunite on a trip to Florida for a Clemson football bowl game. The trip was normal and fun (even though Clemson lost terribly). Nothing out of the ordinary until Katherine left to go back home. It was then that Joe had this thought about Katherine: “Wow, I kind of miss that girl.” A month of prayer, discussions with close friends and a few truck rides listening to music together later, Joe finally asks Katherine out on a date. On March 5th, 2023 he asks her to be his girlfriend in a field one night under the stars. 425 days later Joe gets down on one knee in that very same field and asks her to marry him…That distant prayer Katherine prayed back in 2019 was finally coming true. And guess what? Spoiler alert…SHE SAID YES!
