Our Wedding

Katherine and Nick first met virtually on the dating website “Bumble” after Katherine sent the first message saying “Hey! How are you? :)" The couple then chatted by text for a few weeks as their schedules did not line up for the first date. They realized they had a lot in common, including reminiscing over their favorite college bar, O’Malley’s Alley, where later it was realized they had probably many times been at the bar on the same nights in college. It was time for the first date. Nick chose to take Katherine to the Percheron Rooftop bar in the Crossroads KC. Katherine got there early and watched Nick walk in to make sure he was a real person. Then the date lasted over 4 hours… Even going through the majority of a Chiefs football game. After this date, Katherine and Nick shared their first kiss, in aparking garage… Soon one date turned into multiple, including Katherine and Nick inevitably meeting each other’s friends. After about two months of hanging out, Nick still hadn’t “defined the relationship.” Thankfully, one evening during an Uber ride, none other than Wyatt Osterhage loudly brought up to the car if Nick and Katherine were dating. The led to Nick finally having the “DTR talk” that Katherine had been waiting for! Katherine and Nick had a very fast-paced, fun, and friend/family filled life while dating. Nick was there for Katherine as she worked at Sporting Kansas City. Katherine was there for Nick as he navigated the last two years of medical school. A huge change came when Nick matched for General Surgery residency at West Virginia University. Katherine graciously moved across the country with Nick to start their new life. During Nick’s first year of surgical residency, Katherine was the rock of the household while still working a busy day job. The couple shared many hospital parking lot dates where Katherine would bring dinner to Nick. Nick finally popped the question in the place where it all began. The engagement happened at Percheron Rooftop with the help of Nick’s brother, Chris, and his girlfriend, Lexie. A dinner at the Crossroads hotel turned out to be a set-up where eventually the couple ended up on the roof and Katherine said yes! Thank you so much for reading our story.
