Russell and I met through the dating app, Hinge. It was Tuesday April 6, when his picture first came across my app. I thought he was cute, he was wearing a Disney shirt, and didn’t think anything would come of it, so I liked his picture. However, the next day he messaged me, it was luckily my day off so I was responding quickly to him.

We had our first face to face meet over a FaceTime call, and our first date was a casual night in at his apartment. We spent almost all night just talking and getting to know each other! He was even brave enough to sit through the whole show of Phantom of the Opera. This was my first clue that there was something special about him. We spent the next few months constantly talking and hanging out. He knew I was always nervous hanging out with him, but did everything to make me feel more comfortable, until I opened up more to him.

We first bonded over our mutual love of Disney, and we went on our first Disney Trip together in October of 2021. This would eventually become our annual tradition each May when we celebrate our anniversary and my birthday. Disney holds such a special place in both our hearts, to where we are looking at trying to move to the Orlando area after we get married. The idea of living so close to the place I love most with the person I love most makes me so excited to see where the future takes us as we embark on life together!

The Backstory:

I had been broken up with my ex for 6 or 7 months, and was going through the whole dating experience again. it was exhausting, so I had sworn off dating and everything women related, and wanted to focus on myself.

I made it all of a month. Sitting in my office working hard with my feet up on my desk checking my email and noticed that I had two notifications saying that someone was interested in my dating profile. Thanks Hinge! Since it was a relatively slow Wednesday, I got curious and redownloaded Hinge again.

There were two women who liked my photo, so I decided to respond to both of them. I wasn't even shooting my shot, it was more "Whatever. Let's see where this moment goes". and whoever responds first is the one who I'll talk to. Who would've thought that the girl of my dreams would be the one to message me back. and THAT is where our lives begin!
