What happens at church camp, stays at church camp. Right?

Well… let us tell you the story of our situation.

Our journey began in childhood, where we first met at church. Matt’s family were members, and Kate’s mom, Nina, is the organist. Over the years, our paths crossed at various youth group events, church camps, and gatherings with our church friends. If you ask Matt’s sister, Tiff, she might claim Kate was her friend first, which is somewhat true. But let’s be honest—Matt definitely won when he put a ring on it!

As for our first date? We like to say it was in a hospital room, watching Stranger Things on a laptop well past visiting hours. Matt still claims it was the most expensive first date ever! Kate then kept coming around and Matt still hasn’t figured out how to get rid of her, but at this point what's the use in trying?

What started as a friendship flourished through our mutual love of music. We adore attending concerts and live shows, often traveling to see our favorite bands. Our first concert together was Aaron Carter in fourth grade—though we didn’t even know we were at the same show! Since then, we’ve seen Jukebox the Ghost at least six times, along with performances by The Struts, AJR, the one and only “Weird Al” Yankovic, Electric Light Orchestra (two nights in a row), The Nude Party, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Moulin Rouge on Broadway. We’re also fans of comedy, having seen Craig Ferguson (too many times for Matt to count) and John Mulaney.

In Baltimore, Matt proposed to Katie just before one of our favorite shows, and we celebrated from the front row, just ten feet from the stage. It was truly the best weekend ever!

Our passion for music is reflected in our impressive vinyl record collection, which now boasts nearly 450 records. We try to listen to our favorites several times a week, and every Christmas, we enjoy the tradition of spinning one Christmas record a day for the 25 days leading up to the holiday.
