Our Story

The Road To Ross

Picture of The Road To Ross

Our story begins long ago at Albion College where we both graduated and knew of each other, but little did we know...
We reconnected in 2015 on a dating app which shall not be named. After talking for nearly a year and multiple excuses by Jon, we finally decided to meet for lunch in Traverse City where Katie lived at the time and Jon was visiting friends. A month after meeting for lunch on September 23, 2016, Jon asked Katie to be his girlfriend to which she laughed. He asked again 4 hours later and she realized he was serious and clearly agreed or this website wouldn’t be in existence.
Katie was a night shift nurse in Traverse City while Jon lived in Lansing and was pursuing his MBA. Despite the distance, we always made time for phone calls, FaceTime and driving in treacherous road conditions in the wintertime to see each other.
Two years of long distance found us moving to Grand Rapids together in the fall of 2018. On the morning of March 2, 2019 when visiting college friends up in Traverse City to go wine tasting, Jon was more quiet than usual and Katie was none the wiser. At the tip of Old Mission Peninsula on the frozen over lake in front of a lighthouse, Jon slid down on one knee and asked Katie for her hand in marriage to which she happily said yes. Good thing we did not start our engagement on thin ice!
Since our engagement, we have bought a home together, adopted a golden retriever puppy and are still loving the beautiful life we are starting together.
Looking forward to our wedding day and having all of the people we love there to celebrate!
