Kyle and Kathleen first met at band camp the summer of Kyle's freshman year. Both were in the low brass section, so they bonded over many hours of sweating on the high school practice field, long rides on the bus, and rehearsing sectional skits that still bring laughter today. Thus began the start of a close friendship that would last the entirety of high school. Though they didn't share any classes, being separated by grade and interests, they would continue to be close friends through the years, even up to graduation.
Kyle and Kathleen would remain good friends even as the two went off to different colleges (though they did have a little time together at IUPUI) and began spending even more time together having adventures -- like going to concerts, Indy Car races, comic conventions, and amusement parks. It became apparent that the two had a lot of common -- and just loved being with each other! At this time it was obvious that Kyle was interested in being more than just friends... but he was willing to wait for Kathleen as she went through a few up and down relationships and slowly made the discovery that the guy that checked all the boxes had been with her all this time.
One day Kathleen finally decided to make the jump and Kyle went from best friend to boyfriend. Though Kathleen and Kyle were excited to announce they were officially an "item," it is safe to say it surprised NO ONE.
Kyle and Kathleen continued their adventures for a few more years, now as a couple. They even caught the bouquet and the garter at Kyle's cousin's wedding! They were also regulars at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, so it was just a normal day at the track for Kathleen when they attended the 2023 Indy Grand Prix. However, after the race when the two went to walk the track, Kathleen got a big surprise when Kyle got down on one knee at the yard of bricks and asked her for her hand in marriage!
Unfortunately, as the excitement of wedding planning was underway, Kathleen's mom's health worsened unexpectedly. It soon became apparent that if Kathleen and Kyle were going to wait to April to get married, then Janet would not be able to attend. Due to the amazing help of friends and the Hancock Regional Hospital hospice unit, Kathleen and Kyle were able to have a small, intimate wedding ceremony November 26, 2023 in which they were legally married with Kathleen's mom in attendance along with most of the bridal party and close family members. Sadly, Janet would pass away the following day.
Kathleen and Kyle still want to celebrate with all their friends and family! So please join them for a celebration of their marriage!
