Joe ventured to Downtown Denver to meet a girl - he knew that the curly haired girl from church would be there. That same night, Kat was with some friends at Katie Mullen's pub for Theology on Tap. They went to see Fr. Scott Bailey speak about living out your singleness to honor God. Little did Kat know she wouldn't be single much longer...

She first noticed his glasses and thought, "He looks like a nerd, I'd like to talk to him."

Joe braved the snow to pick up the curly haired girl for their date. She cautioned him to stay safe at home, but he was already on his way. Nothing could keep him from missing the first date. While most places were closed due to the storm, they stumbled across a hole-in-the-wall Mexican place, Tacos Jalisco. This was the first of what would become many Mexican dinner dates.

The couple trekked on through the night to see Kat's favorite band, Motion City Soundtrack, at the Gothic Theatre. The venue was full of other die hard fans that made the journey. After an amazing night of music and dancing, Joe returned Kat home. And a joyful thought crossed her mind, "This could be it, could he be the one?"

Joe planned a date night to Fort Collins that would be unlike any other date night. Meanwhile at St. Joseph's in Fort Collins, Joe's friend Jessee and a group of their friends were preparing the surprise.

Joe escorted Kat to another Mexican restaurant, Blue Agave, where they had another amazing meal. As usual they went to pray after dinner and were meeting Joe's friend Jessee at St. Joseph's. When they entered the church, Kat was blown away by the sight. Along the aisle and altar were 200 lit tealights. They were both too nervous to pray so Joe invited Kat to pray with him at the steps of the altar. Despite rehearsing over and over in his head, when the moment came, the words jumbled out. Kat's smile overtook her face and she said yes.

More surprises were ahead as Joe walked Kat to Ace Gillet's, a jazz bar to celebrate. When they turned the corner, she saw the group of friends eagerly awaiting their arrival. Joe had worked with Kat's roommate Jess to set up the night and get a group of friends up to Fort Collins. Kat remained in a daze of joyful tears and excitement the rest of the night. Joe was anxious as the night had hit a few bumps but was grateful that everything was a success. They were excited to begin this new journey together!
