Jason had just moved back to Youngstown from Northern Virginia. Kat had recently relocated to Youngstown for her residency after she had traveled the world for medical school. We had both lived one highway exit away from each other, albeit it at very different times in our lives, without ever knowing it.

Jason's dad had an accident in his garage, causing him to come into the hospital for a trauma evaluation when Kat happened to be working. He distinctly remembers her left ear with several piercings in it, and noted her name badge. Kat thought nothing of it, as she was focused on the laundry list of things she still needed to do before her shift was over.

Then came Hinge. All it took was Jason asking "Hey, are you from Reston?" and the rest is history. Our first date felt like there wasn't enough time to keep talking. Our waitress came back no fewer than 4 times to take our order, but we hadn't even looked at the menu because the conversation flowed so well. We discovered everything we had in common - from situations in both our jobs to general outlook on life and have been pretty inseparable since. We've both been through some very tough times and have been there for each other. We look forward to continuing that for the rest of our lives.
