Kathy:

I first met Neil two years ago in Zoom meetings organized by the Autistics Association of Greater Washington (AAGW). I didn't quite know what to think of him at the time because, I only knew him as face on a screen.

In June of 2023, in-person meetups resumed and we both met in person during a Spectrum Friends meeting. I thought he was cute but, didn't know how to work the topic into the conversation.

Later that year, I went on a solo trip to South Korea where to my annoyance, I was surrounded by couples in matching outfits everywhere I went.

I decided when I arrived home to sign up for a dating app specifically for autistic adults called Hiki. As fate would have it, Neil showed up in the first few swipes! We ended up matching, I told him he was cute and the rest is history!

I was talking to other singles on Hiki, but around September 2023, it was starting to feel hopeless. Then Kathy's profile showed up one day as I swiped along. She happened to recognize me first from the in-person Spectrum Friends meetups and she thought I was cuuuute! I felt likewise about her. We talked on WhatsApp the same evening we matched on Hiki. and I knew from there, she's the one. But she made the first move and I'm so glad she did!
